Underground, overground, wombling free
So as I have just started playing (8 hours+ in now) there are a few things I have learned that may be helpful for others just starting.

1. Do the single player missions and gather resources / skill points to upgrade. This is important as jumping straight in to multiplayer resulted in me dying or running out of ammo quickly.

2. Heli stealing is tricky as anyone apart from the heavies can jump in the heli and get away so shooting the 'Boss' does not guarantee you getting the chopper.  Use your ync shot to take out all the non-heavies quickly then gun down the big boys.  Plane stealing I have found to be much easier.

3. Nope its not you, helicopters are terrible to fly in this game.

4. Bullet drop is a real thing in this game.  Practice those long shots before taking on that very long range sniper int he tower.

5. If you are in deep with the unidad (??) then hide or run.  Trying to keep shooting will just bring more of them and Apaches which will just rocket your arse.  Hiding if you can will allow for the heat to die down a bit.

6 Stop people driving cards by ramming the cars, shooting the tyres etc.  Try not to run the guy you need to capture over as well though  :51_scream: :8_laughing: .

7 You don't have to shoot (or get any bonus for killing) all the bad guys.  Just get in and grab what you want with the least killing to reduce risk of heat and swarming soldiers.

Any others from people ?.

1. Spray bullets to helicopter blades.

2. During hijack mission, drive towards the guardian car at the tail of the convoy and ask your companion to shoot as much as they can, then knock the car away. They will stop after receiving enough damage from you and objects around. Ignore them, then keep going on to the target truck. Bash it sideways and they'll stop. Get closer to it and quickly tag it.

3. If you're Hunted. Leave immediately from where you are. If you have a friend, split your position in case you wanna launch a pincer attack after they gave up searching.

1) Convoy missions when you start out are a real pain in the behind! The trucks will drive through roadblocks of one or two cars, the guard cars are heavily armed and armoured. Most vehicles you can grab to pursue a convoy are normal vehicles and the firepower from the enemy can likely smash your car before too long. Shooting tires does not always work...they will keep going. So - Option 1 - shoot the driver of the target vehicle then engage guard vehicles with brute force. Option 2 - tail the convoy for its entire route, learn the route then set up a roadblock accordingly (bridges are best). Option 3 - level up Drone to EMP, timing is everything but an EMP can stop the entire convoy! Option 4 - Shoot everything but make sure you Tag the target vehicle before it explodes...then it still counts as getting the supplies tagged! lol.

For info the Ai is programmed to first try to force its way through ANY obstacles in the way...even vehicles too large to move...so it is possible to make the lead car just jam itself up in a mass of twisted metal!

2) Ghost Recon HQ App Game: Download it, play it, gather resources off-line. Once you log into the main game (actually have to be in-game not just menu) you can sync the App with your game on your home network and transfer resources from the App into your main game.

3) Interrogation: Guys with a large "i" are important early game, grab them and interrogate up to three of them to unlock all resources, weapon cases & rebel intel areas in the region you're in. Do this early! Concentrate on grabbing upgrades easily that way by avoiding conflict with UNIDAD etc until absolutely unavoidable. When you move to a new region repeat the process.

Remember this is 100% open world! Go to any region you wish in any order and complete missions as you want in any order you want.

Tagging the truck. I have flown a helicopter, following the convoy. My ai squad would engage and slowly take out the escorts and then the truck stops and you tag it. No shots fired by me at all.

So far, I've found that the HTI sniper is boss at stopping vehicles when you take the silencer off.  It's loud as hell but with no points in vehicle damage you can 1-2 shot choppers (haven't tried the Unidad Apaches) and you can completely wreck most unarmored vehicles in 1-2 shots into the engine.

Looking at some Wikipedia entries, it makes sense because the weapon can be fitted with a .375 barrel up to a .50 cal, so it's like the Barrett .50 cal sniper that puts watermelon-sized holes in people and vehicles.  It's manufacturer, Desert Tech, classifies it as a bullpup bolt-action sniper and anti-materiel rifle.

The other nice thing is the HTI is pretty easy to get, as it's in the eastern end of Montuyoc and is the second province you travel to if you follow the storyline after Itacua.  I don't remember it being heavily guarded and got it rather quickly in the OTB and full release game.

Remember you can use your drone in vehicles if you are not driving.  Just get someone to fly over the target, pop your drone out and tag away.  This is especially useful for sea based assaults.
I assume that once you unlock the EMP this will also allow for lots of cheeky shenanigans as you could EMP the chopper you and your friends are riding in and see if everyone figures it out before it's too late to parachute out.  You can bet I'd ride the chopper into the ground if it meant not alerting my friends and taking them out too.

Look alive, this is the real Noob Guide:

1. Don't snipe an NPC when his friend is nearby or facing them. Wait or find another open target. This is a very common mistake, even my friend who's a snipe-freak does.

2. You're close to an NPC, but trying to keep a safe distance because enemies are around, but not exactly close to your target either? Then use a SILENCED PISTOL

Silenced Pistol has 100% noise reduction (please double check before equipping), unlike Sniper Rifles.

Plus, if you happen to miss your shot, you can quickly mend your mistake thanks to the fire rate. Chances are your Hunted status will be removed before it spreads.

3. You see two guys patrolling together? No worries. Sneak up to the one walking in the back and knock them out. Not confident enough? Grab the dude first before knocking out.

4. See a window? Shoot it with silenced pistol and voila! You just created a shortcut! Screw doors.

5. Hunted? Move away from your last seen. Engaged? Run.

6. Playing Single Player and don't want your teammates to disrupt? Park your vehicle away from hostile area, I suggest somewhere that you can safely recon the place.

Use Go To or Regroup commands to place them in designated spot. Don't forget to use Hold command to confirm. Enjoy your run. Don't forget to use Fire command when it's out of hand.

I saw a clip of someone taking out another copter (two seaters) by flying above and dropping down upon the enemy. Tge impact destroys the enemy copter leaving you unscarred.

It works. And they can't shoot at you while you have the altitude advantage , which makes your attempts are fairly forgiving should you not get your descents quite right.

The large copters the damage isn't sufficient. If it is possible, it would take an inordinate amount of time.

You can however keep pushing down the enemy copter until you slam them into the ground. Just remember to time your pull up. You don't want to continue downward when they hit the ground, your downward momentum will do you in.

As of last night...confirmed. You basically force the other to crash by taking damage on your skids only. *Recommended for good heli-pilots only (i.e. I wasn't the pilot)...and its still easier to just use a grenade launcher*

NOOBIE TIPS (that even experienced players may not know!)

1)

The "intuitive" cover feature. Unlike The Division the cover system is "intuitive" in that you move your character to a wall/barrel etc and you automatically take cover behind it. HOWEVER, what you may not have noticed is the small Arrow that appears...this indicates the direction you will LEAN out or over to fire from! This only exposes minimum amount of your body and is very helpful to peer around corners for example to shoot enemies but remain unseen.

2)

Intel - Not only is there intel to be gathered from the indicated points on the map in a region but you can get similar intel from the Cartel "officers" driving sports cars randomly around regions. VERY helpful if you enter a new region...stop him, interrogate him and you have the option to choose three types of intel to gather. You can stop three cars per region to get all three intel options. Handy if other intel options are well guarded and gives you a head start in a region.

3)

Kingslayer Files - these do NOT automatically show up on the map when you have gathered all Intel. Check each region for "?" for Undiscovered areas... however, there are some that are completely hidden and ONLY uncovered by exploration. So if you're missing one in a region...make sure you've uncovered all the map.

Helicopters- How to go fast for beginners

Pitch Forward - PC "w"

Pitch Back - PC "s"

Throttle Up - PC "Shift"

Throttle Down - PC "Ctrl"

The steps to get into fast mode:

  • Press Pitch Forward + Throttle Up
  • Copter will tilt forward. It will also start to lose altitude.
  • Keep pressing (Pitch Forward + Throttle Up), and wait for the tilt to change a second time (sometimes an extra tilt down and sometimes it lessens the forward tilt)
  • Give it a moment, and then stop pressing the Pitch Forward but keep pressing the Throttle up.
  • If done right (it is a bit fidgety, you need to wait for the right amount of moment)  the copter will level out and keep going at a fast pace. Other wise it will lift, which means you'll have to try again.
  • Once in fast mode the controls are slightly different.

Pitch Forward will descend (slow/normal mode it is - go forward)
  • Pitch Up will lift  (slow/normal mode it is - reverse)

Throttle Up will not lift in fast mode (you're pressing it at the moment, anyway). Even if you stop pressing Throttle up, you'll have to give it a moment to go back to slow/normal mode. So, be careful with trying to drop out of fast mode and hitting Throttle Up for lift to miss that ridge.

When in fast mode the controls are very easy to use, esp. with low level flying. You'll have better lift than in slow mode too.

Also, in fast mode it is easier to dodge missiles as the controls and easier and more responsive.

Side note: Turn your lights off at night. You don't need them to fly and it just alerts the ai to your presence.

I don't know which one you saw, but I actually uploaded a gif clip of the helicopter trick to Twitter. Thought of sharing it, but I can't snatch the gif only and I was lazy to pick the clip up again from my PS4. :P

Anyway, like I said above, helicopter's weakness is the blade. So just simply gain higher altitude than your opponent and let your heli body hit the enemy's helicopter's blade.

You don't need to 'tackle' it. Just let it scratch on your body. Your helicopter will still be fine by the time the enemy's chopper breaks down falling to hell.

Yeah, I think what made it harder for me was I hit it dead centre, so would have been pushing down on the top of the rotor shaft as well. Funny to think the game accounts for the difference between the blade and the rotor.

Hello fellow Ghosts. I've started playing Wildlands 2 days ago and i'm loving every single piece of this  beatiful game. Combat mechanics are nice and the multiple ways to complete missions is nice too. Since The Division i was missing the stealth element, but now i can really manage combat on my terms. Planes and helis are awful to drive ?

Planes and helos get easier to drive with time, but the controls are a little different from other games I've played.  Check YouTube and you'll probably find some how-to videos for flying both.

Btw, any good spot to snipe Unidaddian soldier from >300m for the Community Challenge?

Finding the viable vantage point is harder to get than actually to snipe them.

Also, the task says 'Soldier', so does every unidad personnel count or only for the standard ranked guys?

Good idea, changed to "General Tips & Tricks".

As for the challenges, haven't had a chance to give it a try.  And this weekend I'll be running Division for DCW3, so it will be sometime next week before I get a chance.
