After a bit more grinding here are the updated numbers. I try to not inflate my DPS with accuracy to much and go for more of a stability and crit ch/dmg on all mods.

When running incursions I do switch to a Striker Pack as well for the added damage boost.

You should download the picture "Save As" and then upload it here. Linking it from the xbox site fails cause they don't like people hotlinking.

Obviously, this pic is nothing to brag about. Such paltry dps :/

I recently hit 30, and mostly I was motivated to simply get my gs heading north. Surprisingly, other agents tend to leave a forming squad when the see gs 136 lol ( agents are rather polite considering other games they just kick you).

As a confession, when my gs was about 140s,  I was slotting at sniper rifle with a higher gs when the squad is waiting to start, and then switch to a lower AR. This was just so my gs looked a little higher to avoid the agents abandoning the squad. Once we were rolling I switched to the AR since it was rocking. *sign* the things noobs do.

So, I haven't been to fussy about gear, I just slot any loot that gets the gs somewhere more respectable. Nor have a got carried away with crafting mods for firearms. I really haven't spent much time worrying about the build.

However, having hit the 170s, I was curious whether I need to get my woeful dps sorted or whether this is just a progression thing. That I should just work on the loot and worry about build issues further down the progression track.

It is very much a progression mate, I would recommend teaming up and hitting the dark zone. Some of the drops you get there can easily inprove your dps and stats. I would say always clear the daily challenges for the pheonix credits but currently UBI haven't even bothered to reset them, AGAIN. If you feel that the dark zone is a bit too dangerous, don't use items to inflate your gear score. Get yourself back below GS 161 and sit in the lower dz bracket. Will find it a much safer place being one of the more powerful agents in there as opposed to running into agents in the 161+ bracket with gear scores north of 200 that just want to spoil your day!

Also just noticed that your weapons have some blue attachments on them. Swapping them out with some high end ones or some purple attachments will vastly improve your gun stats. I would highly suggest buying the extended mag blueprint from the vendor in tech wing and crafting a few looking for a nice 90%+ mag size increase and increased fire rate for most weapons. Again running the dark zone weapon attachments are common drops I find.

Thanks forr that. Yeah i started getting mods blueprints. Tho wasn't sure if it was a waste of pxc and mats at this point

There is currently a level 32 extended magazine blueprint in the dark zone that I have got my eye on, although I am waiting to hit dark zone rank 75 to get a 204 gear score weapon blueprint.

i would say save your money for the blueprints for weapon attachments mate as you can pick a lot up in the dark zone, I did purchase mods blueprints (stamina and firearms) so I could craft and hope for + Armor on them, getting your damage mitigation to 65% is important in my opinion

I kinda wanna buy the LMG that the Phoenix vendor is selling at the BOO. Anyone use it?

I don't use it, but stat/handling wise its comparable to the m249 para.
I directly compared it to the lower GS "Pakhan" that you can buy for around 400k normal credits at the other vendor in the BOO. It has almost the same talents but a smaller mag size. But the Pakhan has a higher fire rate. So at least for me it was not worth to buy it for over 800 PXC.

I'm comparing it's rate of fire, mag size, damage, and general "handling" of the weapon. The way it "feels" to shoot it is almost, but not entirely, indistinguishable from the m249 para. Talents I won't speak to, as one is set on purchase and the other can roll any on craft.
