When things are quieter, people just bail from an instance when there's vacuous rogue squad romping around. So, no biggie.
Unfortunately does not always seem to work as myself and Howie found out the other night.  Will put in the DZ Stories thread to save cluttering up here.

Again, the DZ is a completely optional area. In no way are you ever forced to enter as you progress.

You can argue that the weekly mission requires you to enter the DZ, but the reward is only 30 pxc... a lesser reward than a single vanilla challenge mode run. Completing the DZ portion of the weekly has so far only required killing NPCs as well, and can be accomplished in short bursts going no further than 50-100m from a checkpoint.
Yep but if I by a game I would like to have fun playing the whole game  :12_slight_smile: .  Why should people pay full price if they cannot get in to the DZ without being constantly smacked down by people they have no hope of killing.  I am all for Rogues, I am all for PvP battles in the streets, I am just not so much for bulling by untouchables  :12_slight_smile: .  I just don't think it is going to do anything for the longevity of the game. If the PvP area was an optional paid for extra with warnings that you have to grind for hours and hours in the PvE part for a chance of even playing in the DZ and possibly surviving then people would have nothing to say against it.  That is not how I saw the game advertised.  People dishing out the fairly risk free pain will always object to their power being taken away, especially when it has taken many hours to get to that stage.  I can fully understand that.  I just hope the game can withstand that sort of behavior against newer players without them just deciding it is not worth it and leaving.  I hope that doesn't happen and would like to encourage activities in the DZ that are likely to draw player in rather than force them out.  The great battle royal idea you had for example.

Anyway I think we have done this and we just have different views from different angles  :10_wink: .

...warnings that you have to grind for hours and hours in the PvE part for a chance of even playing in the DZ and possibly surviving.....
What about PvP in an rpg DOESN'T mean that though? How many brackets do we need before it's "fair"?

Why does it have to be like that though ?.  Just because it has gone before, it does not mean it has to be that way all the time. I don't believe that casual gamers should be spanked down all the time by hardcore gamers just because they have other things to do with their time than grind for countless hours in a computer game.  Surely there is room for both types of gamers in a PvP game isn't there ??.  The how many brackets I have mentioned in the DZ stories which I see you have just replied to so will take it up over there  :12_slight_smile: .

Lets face it the impression I get is that the majority of the time this issue is being caused by a certain "type" of player going Rogue.

1) They're always teamed up

2) They're generally highly over-specc'd

If you think about it this leads me to some key theory's ...

Going Rogue in this case is NOT about gaining Loot - This is clearly NOT how Massive envisaged the DZ Rogue status being used. Its obviously meant to be a mechanic to allow players to use PvP to gain more effective/different loot.

Going Rogue in this manner offers no danger or genuine excitement for the player - The Rogue is the majority of the time taking down players well below their own GS, usually one or two shotting them. There are no fire fights of any significance. The rogue jumps you with his friends, you get ganked even before you register you've been shot the first time. This isn't really fun for either party! The player being killed....just gets killed and respawns...pfft! ...The Rogue player gets no gear he actually wants, perhaps some tiny drop of credits (he'd get far more, faster, killing Mobs) and really only the very momentary satisfaction of springing an ambush.

All this means, to me, one thing ... PLAYERS ARE BORED! They've run out of PvE game content, they're people who regularly group up so NEED a decent group activity. If this was WoW for example (I know I keep bringing World of Warcraft up but I feel its a good example still), they'd be running LONG Instances...gaining gear sets, increasing their status and gear.

FL is NOT a full instance...its ONE ROOM... We just need more content.

Its coming...I hope...soon.
