DIVISION RUINED

Why is it that ubisoft feel the need to change so much about the division on a regular basis? Why is it that you can reduce the power of weapons but cant take away high end items from players that have used glitches to gain at level 24? Why do you think it necessary to fill the division with NPC's that are so overpowered just because the server isn't doing so well? Why is it that even though I have 70K toughness and 47% mitigation a level 20 npc can still destroy my health and hit me full power from 5 miles down the road? You are ruining the division for regular players who grind to get items. You are making it harder for regular players to enjoy the game when you reduce the power of weapons but still allow players below lvl 30 to keep high end items. I used to love this game. Now I f***ing hate it! Fair enough you have to update things but that doesn't mean change everything because literally all it has done is ruin the game.

Their changes, almost always, have been for a reason.  You have to remember, especially when it comes to the old AUG/Vector or the G36, that these weapons were doing more damage than every other one of its type (SMG or Assault Rifle).  The game's not meant to have one weapon or one piece of gear that is the one thing that everyone is meant to go for.  It's supposed to be about balance.  The game's intention from the very start before it even came out was that everything would be viable, and that you would be able to customize your game play to what you wanted to use... not work to get the same thing that everyone else is getting because it's the most powerful thing in the game.

Are some enemies far more powerful than they probably should be?  Very possibly, and they've acknowledged that they're working on that and looking into it.  However, you have to realize that since this isn't just a PVE game, balance is a very important aspect that has to be right and that's what they're working toward in every way they can.  This is an online game, which means that they're adapting according to the input that we physically put into the game thru game play.

I say all this because knowing the actual reasoning behind why they do the things they do helps significantly for me.  Hope it helps you.

Its like they're trying to get 100 but keep putting in 20 and taking 30 and wondering why its not adding up. I don't use the vector or the AUG. Instead of taking away damage from weapons that people already have, why not make other weapons more powerful to balance it out as you say? There seems to be an influx of people in the DZ with high end gear from glitches and I've seen teams of people unable to fight against a solo rogue due to the fact that they've exploited a glitch in the game...but that's not addressed, instead they take away decent weapons from regular players, it's a joke. And aside from that most people in the DZ want to pvp or loot, you have landmarks for fighting enemies, there should just be a few stragglers here and there, not walk out of a checkpoint to 15 NPC's, or when trying to reload have to fight off 15 NPC's but as you move closer to the enemies attract more enemies leading you to a half hour siege just to reload.

This literally used to be one of my favourite games but now I just think its a load of s**t. Turned on my xbox to find I'v lost 20K DPS overnight but the rogues with high end gear still get to keep it has really pissed me off.

It is not that they keep their dps, they loose it as well with the patch today. Anyway dps doesn't mean much anymore but the talents you have and the gear that you use and how you set it up, this is what it counts. I totally agree with the DZ tankiness of players and stuff but you are off tracks!!

Yess some people use to use the glitches back then but now there is almost none and there is so much you can do without putting feet in DZ. Yess npc are spongie but not unkilleable. Maybe you should revise your build or to be in a good team to overcome those difficult challenge.

Here you got plenty helpful people to play with and they have experience. You are not alone!

What i hate is why nerf the guns they made dont they have people testing them i mean wtf my dps dropped 50k from them nerfing their guns. Kust got donedoing a heroic mission in underground and got 204 crap

That moment when you see the same "This game is ruined/terrible/I want to rage" thread started again...

People obviously say it for a reason. There's still high end glitches on the underground DLC, I know people who have used the glitch today...it just defeats the object of adding more powerful weapons to then lower the power because people are choosing them over weaker weapons, why not make other weapons stronger so people want to use them more. The main thing I'm annoyed at is the fact that my DPS dropped by so much over night which is think is an absolute liberty

The G36 had seemed like a silly idea out of a marketing meeting. Right from the start they said it was OPed and would be nerfed later. It should have been easy to correct it before release, or even with the following patch, but it has take a few patches. Just seems like a misguided way to offer a treat to players, ween then off the use of smgs when they nerfed the aug/vector weaps. At the end of the day, balance is good for the game.

I hate playing this game now. I swear these guys who created this game must be Bernie Sander supporters. Seriously it seems that they want to make everything equal across the board and no more beating up on people. Now everyone is building tanks and all of us who had great weapons to kill them and the overly strong NPC lvl 34 and 35 are not worthless.  I say boycott the division until Ubisoft and Massive bring weapons and gear back to normal. That's mean the G36, snipers, SMG and Sentry and Striker armor. And just for an added bonus add night vision and thermal sights option for when it snowing and hard to see the enemy

I've spoken against this logic before, but it's been a while so I'll give the argument stains once more.

If you balance the weapons by constantly adding to weapons, you ruin the whole structure of the game because you'll create a neverending upward spiral where the DPS and DMG on weapons keep going up and the protections on armor then start going up to compete with the weapon, rinse and repeat.

Here's a simple example: gun A is considered OP, so B and C get buffed to meet A.  Once that's done, it's determined that B is now OP, due to some other factor.  So, A and C get a buff to meet B.  Now, once the dust settles, C becomes OP for one reason or another.  One of two things happen with this: 1.) this buff process goes on indefinitely to "balance" everything or 2.) all guns in the same type end up with identical stats and differ only in their model.  Both of these options suck.

Now let's take the other side of this.  As weapon buffing runs rampant, eventually all weapons start cutting through enemies (NPCs and PCs) like a hot knife through butter.  As this weapon buff starts cranking out 250k, 275k, 300k DPS, 500k toughness starts to look more like 200-250k toughness.  So, because players will probably be calling bullshit, they buff defense on gear to "counteract" the arms race from the weapon buffs.

This will go on indefinitely until the game becomes beyond broken.  So, in order to avoid this, Massive balances the game by adjusting weapons and gear up and down (similar to sliders on an equalizer) to try to keep them destinct but still viable in the game.  The unfortunate consequences of this is that the game and gear are in a constant state of flux as they try to even things out.

Now to really complicate things, they have to balance weapons and gear for both PvE and PvP.  In a game that's exclusively PvE or PvP, weapons and gear can be balanced and then the enemies can be adjusted to compensate for the changes.   However, this isn't easy, as we're all aware based on building your character for one or the other.

Destiny addresses this by normalizing everything in the Crucible, except when you play Irom Banner.   That being said, when players play IB they know they can get wrecked if they're undergeared.   If you still want to play PvP and not deal with gear bonuses, you can enjoy some vanilla Crucible.  Because DZ is basically IB 24/7 with no other PvP option, Massive tries to balance weapons and gear so they're of the same value in both PvE and PvP.

On top of that, there are mistakes where items slip past QA (G36 & AB gloves) for one reason or another and they have to make chances that are bound to piss people off.  Unfortunately, some of these just can't be avoided.

IMO, the real problem with weapon and gear balancing in the game is the DZ.  If the DZ was either not part of the game or normalized like Destiny, I don't think there would be as many problems balancing.  I could be completely wrong, but it's my understanding that Massive's inability to reconcile FrontLine gear and the B.L.I.N.D. rifle with PvE and PvP is why the gear will probably never make it to the game and why the rifle might not be out for an update or two, if ever.

So, that's a lot to digest, feel free to pick it apart.

I agree with what you've said, but want to add that if they wanted there to be more viable options for guns then they should also make more models available and also make them useful (t281 and converted smg are worthless for pve/pvp imo).  I get the aug/vector were overpowered when compared to the the other smgs, but one big reason people went for those, wasn't necessarily by choice, it was because they typically dropped the most. Not to mention the blueprints for those guns aswell.

And... lets face it ... the KRISS Vector is one sexy mo-fo looking gat. Before 30 I used one far beyond reasonable use just because the other option was an MP5 and who thinks that thing looks sexy?!?

But yeah... more gunz!! (waiting for a non-turret mounted P90)

Love the comparison  :4_joy:

Well I was going to move on and not comment here agreeing with @quinch1199 s comment above when @DUBZ  just had to go and say something that made me go....

Woah.jpg

Night vision goggles... now bear with me here....

Night vision goggles --> night --> dark --> underground --> dark underground --> small light only --> how to see --> gun light attachments & NVGs...

So here is the proposal (for what it is worth).

Underground "Night Stalker" directive.

  • No main lighting (only small side lights / electrical panel lights / electrical sparks / firelight etc).
  • Players have to navigate using this lighting and can find / buy flashlight attachments.
  • Players loot can include night vision goggles.
  • The NVGs have a limited run time (greater as the GS rises).
  • Firefights in the dark & muzzle flashes giving positions away.
  • Tension, a flash of a bad guy out of the corner of your eye, Awesome sauce.
