The Division is on Steam's Summer Sale right now. I just picked up the gold edition for next to nothing.

Hit me up with them tips and tricks, haven't played The Division since way back and that was when I was helping out a homie.
Just checked , hooley dooly nice deal. You can add me if you like.

You planning on power leveling or enjoying the story line?

Tips:

Don't rush! Take your time, enjoy the story ... pick up and listen to the audio recordings along the way! Don't skip stuff if you can avoid it (sometimes you have to as pick ups are in the middle of missions).

Don't just follow the story missions, try to complete as much of a regions side missions as possible before moving on. Helps you level, helps you explore and get a feel for the game flow. Plus the safe house people are often funny to listen to as they give you missions.

DLC (Underground, Survival & Last stand) are frankly great! Underground is pretty much part of the main game, Survival & Last Stand are separate DLC but at least set in the main game "universe" unlike Narco Road (so more like Fallen Ghosts). I LOVE Survival but the last 10mins of the game makes my blood pressure go through the roof with a mix of fear, adrenaline & excitement...plus the rewards are great.

Leveling 1-30 - don't worry too much about build. Get and equip whatever buffs and improves your general performance. Get a field for all the different skills and what they do. Once you hit 30 you'll start getting end of game gear and this is the best time to hit the DLC's to help gain you more rewards faster.

I'm not sure if the "always equip highest level/gear score gear before you open a reward cache" ploy works to boost the gear received but be aware of it.

You get Survival with the Gold Edition? There's a Survival Tips thread you can read. You don't need to be at end game to play this dlc. Not sure what rewards you get tho.

Yeah you get everything in Gold, thankfully. I've got like 14 years of FPS experience, so I excel at PvP, one of the main reasons I was interested by the game way back when it got updated. Got pretty deadly mechanical aim, so I'm interested in the story, but I will wanna power level and get super stacked upgrades so I can deliver insane DPS when battling it out.

I'll add anybody who wants to be added.

@BROGOD Glad to see you jump international the game.  I do suggest taking it slow thru the 1-30 on your first run as there's tons of great lore and story that's easy to miss if you rush.

Another suggestion is to listen to EP 2 & 4 (now available) and EP 5 (should be out Tues) of Shade Tech Radio, our Division podcast.  EP 2 talks about general tips and suggestions for 1-30 play, EP 4 has tips on how to handle gear and weapons for the 1-30 run and for when you just hit 30 and start getting end game gear, and EP 5 will talk about what to look for on GS 256 weapons and gear.  In about a week we'll release EP 6 which should cover suggestions for builds for different situations: PvE, PvP, DPS, tank, support, healer, etc.

All EPs are on iTunes.  We have videos of EP 2-4 on YouTube and due to space constraints the 3 most recent EP are on SoundCloud.  When EP 5 releases it will be on all 3 different platforms.  The EPs are also available from the show's website: shadetechradio.com

First play throughs I generally do take things slow anyway, same way I tackled or am tackling Ghost Recon: Wildlands. I collect collectibles, points, weapons and weapon upgrades each time I finish a provinces leader. I do most of it going from mission to mission, but I like to make sure I tie up loose ends.

Damn it. Give me some information on how the leveling system works, it caps out at 30 from what I heard. Do you get some sort of prestige level after that?

I always had plans of a second character anyway for more exploration shit, on my current I just wanna kit him the fuck out and cause chaos.

Yes, you level your character until 30. Then it is purely gear. Gear has levels called gear score. The current top gear score is 256. The gear score levels are 163, 182, 204, 229, 256.

Happy to help with power leveling, tho my tz usually works out awkward.

However, the best way is simply to get someone to carry you thru the main missions (story line missions).

The catch is, you need the side missions to upgrade you Medical, Security, and Tech wings in the BOO, which give you your talents, perks and signature skills. So, you'll be end game but missing some fine tuning and Signature Skills.  These are important but not a show stopper.

Edit: but still. I think it is a shame to miss the storyline. It's quite good and they have these small interesting content with Echoes and phone and tape records. So worthwhile imho. Players often grip how end game lacks this. You go from this diverse interesting content to gear grind progression.

So, even if you power level, go back and smell the roses. They rock.

Most people end up with multiple toons (it has its advantages). So, you can power level the first and storyline the second.
I've got 3 (at 30 and a 4th at 7 to help people waking thru the game) and sped thru on my 1st toon, but I really wish that I had taken my time with my first run.

I had planned to make another toon, in which I'll take the story line slower and use it to help friends when they get the game. My first one I'm doing the story line, at a relatively slow pace, but I do want to gear up and crush heads - I'm around level 10 right now and have been pretty much just doing encounters, side missions and missions as I come across them. Kitting out my base of operations slowly but surely.

The game is pretty addicting at times, I love getting stuck into combat and just shredding - if only I had higher DPS and tanky health.

If you hit the story missions, side missions and encounters you'll probably be around 27-29 when you finish the main story.  You'll need to knock all of that out anyway for some of the end game content, so it's worth hitting it while they're at your level & actually helpful.
