Can you post this in the technical/Agent support area please.
My initial thoughts are that your system is choking for some reason whenever combat is started, without CPU/RAM usage figures I can't give a real answer to be honest.
There's an outside chance that its a background process that's sucking system processing power and might be linked to the software having to share particular information between server and local side. Firewall perhaps?
