Future PvP?

Hi, so does anyone else think that there should be more PvP modes like TDM and Capture/Hold an area.

The two sides could be the first wave agent's vs the second wave  (so it's not too off from the story)

I for one would love for an update like this, anyone else agree?

There are several areas in the DZ that look like they are set up for just this type of battle. Any of the extraction zones could become take and hold objectives and there are several other places as well. If you have spent any amount of time in the DZ I am sure you have seen these areas as well.

As long as I am not getting continuously rolled over by packs of rogues, (only happened to me once, and I exited and reentered the DZ and got a better instance to play in.) I actually like the cat and mouse game either chasing rogues or running from them if need be. It makes the extracted loot seem worth it, even if it turns out to be more deconstructed materials. However, the addition of structured missions where groups can go head to head to find (?) on the map and extract it, or simply take and hold & straight up (X) numbers of kills to win would be pretty damn fun as well.

This is all still new and only time will tell what gets added or taken away.

This sounds an awful lot like someone misses call of duty....
Sounds like the OP has played COD, but I have never played the game and it seems rather dull to me. The only so called PvP I have ever played has been StarCraft & Unreal Tournament.  My point was actually directed in the strategy aspect of the game as far as PvP goes. In the PvE portion of the game some strategy is required, in the PvP portion of the game there is no strategy other than min/maxing gear (or exploiting broken game mechanics) and it would be great IMO to have head to head objective based PvP only because it would take strategy to either take & hold or assault. All of the game mechanics are already included in the game and with the ability to have six 4 man teams on the map at one time would be awesome.

Example:

All six teams would be required to loot (x) amount of supply drops, loot crates etc (whatever the mission called for) and then extract the items, at any extraction point ( Or only a specific one to make teams fight for the extraction point as well.)

This is just my input to keep people interested in the DZ. I would imagine that a person will only step out of a safe room and get sticky bombed so many times before they stop trying the DZ or quit all together.

in an open world setting as this game is..team TDM wouldn't really work at all unless they close off the DZ in order to have it. not going to happen. TDM or CTF type of PvP is more for arena type, closed off PvP zones so you have no outside interference from other players, just randomly going into the zone to farm bosses or division tech.  if the developer wanted the same type of PvP that thousands of other games have. they would have done that in development of the game.  To get 6 4 man teams to play the type of scenario you described, they would have to have servers of only the dark zone. so no one can leave the area, or others might enter. doubt very seriously they will do that...like i said before, they made this game this way because they wanted something different than the thousand, if not millions, of other games out there already.  If people want TDM. or CTF or what ever...there are tons of other games to choose from.  destiny comes to mind or COD or battlefield..kinda getting sick of the copy and paste PvP that has developed in the industry..glad Massive is at least trying something different in my opinion

I don't know if I see those working in the environment that they set up. But I think it would be neat if they held events in the DZ. Treat it like Iron Banner (sorry for the Destiny reference) where you only do it every two months or so, have it last a long weekend, and change up the event type. Maybe a JTF vs Rogues where you are branded that for the entire event? Maybe a Manhunt type event? Something to spice it up here and there.

they could definitely try different things to spice up the DZ...which they have already done so with supply drops..i think they pictured players fighting other players on top of the NPC's guarding the supply drops, just to be the one to claim the loot. hasn't worked out that way yet, but at least they are trying.

I agree. But up the gear loot from them and make them every two months for a long weekend and I think you will see those street battles they envisioned.

Regarding supply drops.....

I have a feeling they're not so much meant to be "for the loot" as they are "for the story". Unless I'm missing something, it's not known who they come from and why they're being thrown into the DZ, and it could very well just be an early addition meant to be a base for some later add-on.

I agree from the dialog that it appears as though the JTF has no idea why the supply drops are dropping in the DZ and I feel that they are more story driven instead of a means of getting "Phat" loot. This will likely develop into something more involved later on.

My ideas for objective based scenarios are just that, ideas. As I stated in my original reply on this topic, I like the DZ as it is. (I hate getting ganked as much as the next person, but lessons learned have saved me more times than not.)  Massive will continue to work on the balance issues and all of this is in early infancy as far as MMO style games go. The DZ of today will not be the DZ of next year. Game developers always envision their game being played a certain way and almost never in an MMO environment that includes PvP does that vision ever come to fruition.  They will keep trying to force everyone into the DZ to obtain level locked gear & blueprints (and I will be one of them) but I think more and more people will stick to PvE or just go away all together.
