Is the division an online only game? Can i play it offline? Is there a single player story mode?
Yes, it is an online game with no offline mode. You can play along the story line up to level 30. You can solo a lot of the game, especially through the story line, however not all of the end game options are suitable. You can play solo in the end game stage, however it is limited. But can play some aspects of it. They have endeavoured to open up the game for solo players after its initial release, but it have its limitations.

Worth noting there is a random matchmaking system to help you group up with others for most of the content so you can still do the missions you want to in a group if you don't know any other players.

Not to mention this is pretty useful for just having fun in groups. Most of the time you get decent dedicated people willing to grind out some missions.

The matchmaking is good for most of the content, but harder content (legendary missions & incursions) requires a lot of communication & coordination, so PUGs don't tent to work that well.

TBH, I am not finding this to be the case a lot of the time now.  It certanly helps but is not a must have.

I completed each legendary mission twice this week with randoms and with no talking at all (the people I get paired with tend not to speak English for the most part).  I have had some wipeout attempts and even got kicked from a group at one point (guess I couldn't carry them all as well as they were used to  :10_wink:  ) but on each of the 6 completions there was very little comms.

I also got pulled in to a group playing Clear Sky and Falcon Lost which we completed (FL was on legendary, CS not so sure).  No comms but a good strong group with people I have played with before.

I supect it is because people have done the grind a lot and have a fair idea of where to go and what to do at each part for the best chance of success.  You do always get the newer players though who do not expect the shotgunners rush in Times Square or Napalm and the whole team goes down.

Saying that, comms gives a much better chance of success and tend to be a lot more fun  :3_grin: .
