So I updated my game to 1.6.1, but every time I run it, it is in windowed mode. Now I don't want to be some inferior 30 FPS console peasant, (and I always game fullscreen), so I do that, and instant crash. I tried turning off DX12, but it still crashes.

Try alt + tab, you can fullscreen any game by doing that.

Go to The Division in Uplay, go down to Properties on the menu on the left side, and click "Verify Files" under "Local Files".

Or if you're on Steam, right click The Division, and select properties from the context menu. Continue to the "Local Files" tab, and click "Verify Integrity of Game Files".

I need a little more info.

What are your PC specs, GPU specs?

My 'cure' was backing up one GPU driver set.  I have since updated to the latest and all is well.  I find both NVidia and AMD update drivers very often.
