Your experience with 1.3

I'm really enjoying it myself. The randomly generated maps make for a new experience every time as well as progressively more difficult enemies as you level up. It's also quite rewarding, even if you don't get good gear on a run you usually end up getting mats which are always helpful.

268 drops in the dz aswell. I got one for doing an incursion, but that could of been a weekly reward.

Do the new gearscore items also drop on missions or HVT or whatever? The current state of the game (1.2) is that Challenging missions is pure bulldookey in reward.

I don't have Season Pass and not looking to buy it for the Underground, especially people around Ubisoft forums have been sharing what they got out of it and the new Heroic difficulty...

I know I’ve hinted at this before but this game really benefits and the enjoyment you get out of it changes significantly based on who you play alongside.

So far I’ve had good experiences and boring ones, but each time its been based on the dungeon run I’ve done and how its been conducted by the players I’ve been with and last night was an obvious example I’d like to share.

Logged on early for a change and teamed up with two friends (one from Holland and one from Russia). We shared group lead and therefore tokens and so had enough between us to modify the runs quite a bit. We weren’t focussed on manipulating the runs for a particular end though (i.e. you can change it so you get gear over weapon drops as well as edging the dice in favour of particular Gear Scores), we mainly took away mini-maps and all markers (hints) as well as restricting our cooldowns on skills as well as just on Hard setting. We ran the dungeons at quite a slow pace, checking every corner for loot, methodically clearing rooms, checking corners, checking for traps etc.

IT …. WAS … A …. WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

They eventually had to drop out and get some sleep (lightweights!). I picked up two other friends who were far more focused on gearing up. They ran the dungeons “hard and fast” … with one guy geared as a heavy tank (500k+ toughness!), he would just run forward, never use cover, just soak up damage, often leaving the rest of us behind. We never checked for loots, or traps (the tank would just run through them and set them off ahead of us).  A 15min dungeon in under 10mins was normal and we’d rinse-repeat as fast as we could.

I got far better gear but … the experience just wasn’t….fun.

Now, this IS NOT THE GAMES FAULT … the runs were boring because of the players. I feel a lot of the time people who have a smaller circle of friends or friends looking for a particular experience, often look at this game and think “its boring” but they don’t consider what a huge difference it makes to have different types of players alongside you.

Just to clarify, the runs with the fast team just weren't enjoyable for ME personally. The two guys were still laughing, having fun as they played so they enjoy that type of gameplay.

Me being who I am enjoy adding to the tension, taking my time, roleplaying a little if you will.

Yep like the same sort of thing here but most match making produces 'run and gun' people who then quit if the rest of the tram aren't able to keep them and themselves alive.

Had one when I teamed with 3 randoms and after failing a challenging mission and restarting, one dropped off just as we started....  We continued, carefully, and completed it with all 4 directives activated and after having to return to the start to get more ammo.  That was good and we were all pretty supportive.  Hopefully we will team upa gain.  Oh we only got some poor GS240 items from that though.

@quinch1199: Would you like to elaborate how you can influence the end drops in the Underground ?.  I finally got my 2nd agent to lvl 30 last night so will start hammering the Underground for dem sweet, sweet stashes.

by adding or changing various perimeters of the dungeon you can change the end loot to drop either Weapons OR Gear. Running from memory as at work but I think adding the Waste Not Want Not means you get a HE weapon at the end drop (the perimeter limits ammo capacity to approx 25% of your full amount which makes the missions so tense! Last night on one long mission against LMB I ended up using my Pistol during the last encounter). Likewise the Cache's seem influenced by this also....so when the mission says High End Weapon drop at the end, any Cache's you get during will also be weapons.

Next bit is "conjecture" on my part and on the part of those I've run with. IF you equip the highest gear you have, every time, each time, regardless of stat build it seems to encourage the game to give you higher drops.

For example if you have GS186 and 201 items but only carry the 186 because its got better stats over all (we know we all do that) then the dungeon will look at you and say you are 186 gear score, you need 201 drops ... and that's all you get.... however, if you equip the 201 gear the dungeon says you are >186 and therefore need 215 gear and it seems that's what drops.

Likewise, once you start equipping 215 gear you'll start getting 240 etc etc.

I've generally found the loot drops from the dungeon themselves ... mediocre ... but the Cache's have so far been really good drops. Issue I was facing last night is the group I was with were lower GS than myself (186/201's to my 220's) so were focused on gearing the dungeons to Weapons only but each weapon I was getting from each run was pretty much the same as I had already. I ended up with about 4 G36's of various types but almost identical DPS, and 5 Bison's which oddly always seemed to have less base DPS than the one I already had.

I basically needed some Gear orientated runs as I'm lacking gear items (pack etc) to boost my GS so I start getting the next level of gear from the runs...but the guys needed weapons ... I took one for the team. LOL!

Asked wifey to start downloading the update at lunchtime today, aiming to play when I got home. It's a 10Gb update and is going to take 6 hours. ?

It's up on PS4 and here's what I found:

- Enemies will be level 30 or more in Free Roam map is a lie. Was going around lowe level area and still found level 25 mobs.

- Weekly Underground is already LIVE even though release date for ps4 is still in August. Massive oh Massive. lol.

- The long walk stairs to the Underground is unnecessary and still unchanged.

Yup, though I've noticed a LOT more level 30's and Elites than before but they've not entirely replaced the level 25 mobs there are far fewer.

Fast travel is the only way lol!

I wonder if some of these are the glitches that XB1 & PC had with 1.3.  Massive hadn't finished working on the fixes for 1.3 when they submitted 1.3 to Sony for certification, so we'll get the glitched 1.3 and then get fixes at a later time.

Had a few hours last night with some friends. First thoughts:

  • Enemies in the DZ are a lot tougher;
  • I didn't get one new gear set dropped, only HE armour and weapons;
  • It seemed very 'buggy' with my pulse and sticky bomb not working properly;
  • The new weapons seem OK, though I'm yet to get a G36;
  • There's a noticeable decrease in SMG damage as per the patch notes, but it's balanced by better damage for my ACR and M60;
  • The Terminal is interesting.

Like @Big Grumper, I spent about 2 hrs playing 1.3 last night:

1.) My AUG lost about 17k DPS, but the crit hit chance is still on it instead of crit hit dmg

2.) I think I only saw lvl 30 mobs, but I didn't run a lot in the streets so I can't confirm that all of them are 30s

3.) I'm unimpressed with the glitch on weekly HVT, the 2nd and 4th were completed when I signed on

4.) Recalibrating weapon talents is sweet, swapped meticulous for deadly on my LVOA-C (now has swift/deadly/fierce) and responsive for self-preserved on my AUG (now has self-preserved/stable/deadly).

5.) New gear: I got a couple of useless pieces of 229 HE gear and and a GS 89 blue G36 C, so I've yet to see anything worth toying with yet.

Are HVT's still dropping mainly Lone Star?

I could do with some higher GS versions for when I use "Waste Not Want Not" again.

Yep.

I think Massive even made it more sure that specific activity will drop only that very  type of loot. lol
Works for me, I got a hot tip off on something which will help if you use Lone Star (4 pc with auto reload for switching weapons) AND use "Waste Not Want Not" directive in Underground ...

...which you may know about already.

Not sure what the hot tip is.  I posted up on the Ubi forum about 4x LS and waste not and I was told by multiple sources that if you swap weapons and they auto reload, you lose the ammo that was remaining in the mag.
