XB1 will get a 30 day head start on The Division DLC content!

The Division's downloadable content will hit Xbox One 30 days before PS4, according to GameStop. The news comes via a new promotional video in which several GameStop employees talk about their experiences with the game, and about the benefits of buying it for Microsoft's system.

This shouldn't be a surprise if you've been following The Division's development. Ubisoft and Microsoft already announced that Xbox One players would get new content first - including a day of early access to the open beta this week - but now we know exactly how far ahead of the curve they'll be.

The video states that "content on Xbox One will be delivered 30 days before Sony will see it," which will at least apply to the three paid DLC expansions. It's less clear if that also refers to the "monthly perks" which season pass owners will receive, and to the new game modes which will be distributed for free to all players. If it's true across the board, that could mean some significant end-game delays for PS4 players. Though they did get a decent portion of Destiny stuff a full year before Xbox players, so fair's fair, I guess.

The Division will come out on March 8, so at least everyone can start playing at the same time.

Was just gonna post this.  Good find!  Cant wait.  Glad I have XB1 now.  The Destiny PS4 exclusives are a YEAR LONG!  That hurts sooo bad.  At least 30 days is like the COD maps.

I hate this kind of stuff. Being punished as a consumer for buying the wrong box to play games on is so weird. I am glad this is only thirty days instead of the Destiny year, but it still isn't right for those PlayStation people.

I have an xbone and a mediocre PC. I'm happy I'm not affected by this since I'll be playing on X1, but I really don't like that they do this - hurts us gamers more than anything.

Hate it.  Hate it with this, hate it with destiny, hate it with Street Fighter, Hate it with Tomb Raider, hate with assassin's creed.  Hate 3rd developers choosing sides.  I know game development is an expensive business, but you better hope that what you get from Sony/Microsoft offsets what you lose from fans who lose interest in that 30 day gap.

i play on ps4 and am staying cautiously optimistic. they have destiny to look at once again, where yes the delay was a year long, but DLC wasn't 100% exclusive. The Dark Below and House of Wolves were not on ps4 a year early or even a month early. Release was platform wide and I would hope Ubisoft knows to keep everyone busy during those slow periods

The Destiny PS4 exclusives aren't that good (at least before the taken king, haven't played that one), and they were only a boring strike but you could still get the dlc at the same day on any console. This "delaying the whole dlc" stuff is only happening because Microsoft throws money at Ubisoft, since they want more people to buy a XBOX since they get the content first. And the reason they do this is because they sold so much less than the PS4 so this is just another attempt to catch up with Sony

@Jolle970 that is exactly what SONY did with Destiny and COD.  But with Destiny, a YEAR of exclusive content is ODD.  But yeah.   a couple weapons and a map and strike.  No big whoops to me.

@IndioTechKnow Yeah I know and I think it's shitty from both sides. But hey at least we get the realese at the same time unlike what they did with Lara Croft.
And yes, I do not like time exclusives

I'm with stupid on this one. (Joke by the way, still love ya G.)  But hey, if Ubisoft is getting money from Microsoft, why wouldn't they do this?

This. This is why it is hard to blame 3rd party developers that have their game on both consoles, but have "timed exclusives." It makes absolutely no sense for Ubisoft to say no to a month early DLC drop. I cannot think of a reason as to why they should say no.

Microsoft/Sony, on the other hand, are the ones that are driving me nuts. Making these deals are just hurting the consumer. Sure, Destiny's stuff on PS4 "wasn't that great" and Tomb Raider may not have even been funded if Microsoft didn't step in to help, but Capcom releasing Street Fighter console exclusively to PlayStation can't make them more money, can it? Not having an entire platform to release on? Sony had to made a pretty big deal to get such a great title for their console, which penalizes Xbox users for not buying the "correct" box. And Xbox has done the same, don't get me wrong.

Sorry, this kind of stuff just really aggravates me. Just let the console speak for itself and consumers will buy what they believe the better product is, not which one has the best exclusive deals.
