I am currently level 67 in the DZ. My build is sitting at around 140-155K DPS with high crit chance and 80K health with just a tick under 63% armor mitigation. DPS for my SMG falls to around 110K but with the high crit chance it does decent actual damage per shot. I have 3 sentry's, 2 strikers and a 214 backpack I crafted. I'd get into more detail but I am sitting at work while I ponder this question.

Anyway, it seems when I encounter rogues in the DZ I am dispatched very quickly. I stand no chance.  I know I am not the best player and I don't have the best build but I can't be that bad. When I am rolling solo in the DZ I can clear out the boss areas easily all the way up to DZ 04. Above it starts to get a bit trickier.

What am I doing wrong? Any tips? Why are these rogues able to just blast me with a couple shots? And not always with a marksman rifle either. I've popped my link, pinged (with damage and crit chance bonus) and used an MP5 at close range with the 13% bonus closer than 10M and I still just get melted.

Your build is designed like mine...mostly aimed at taking down elite npcs. Still works ok on players, but it's not player-centric, so those builds and skill builds WILL melt you quickly.

I'd suggest working on a 2nd set of gear rather than attempting to just change your current set. You're looking for pieces that have very little to do with killing/surviving npcs, or pieces that float in the middle of being npc killers and player killers.

Aside from that, an SMG with the talent "self-preserved" can improve your current build a LOT against players and npcs alike, especially when you have high crit chance/damage.

Thank you.

My plan is to save up and get one of the HE weapons in the BoO so ill keep an eye out for self-preserved. I'd definitely be willing to tip the scale towards a build that holds up well against other players rather than NPC's. I think actual player skill can get you a long way with the NPC's but it seems like PVP is definitely based on talent levels. I don't go rogue often and I don't go after rogues as hardcore as some but I'm tired of getting melted in the DZ against other players.

I'd consider myself a skilled player. I use good tactics when it comes to playing the game but that only gets you so far.

Another thing to keep in mind, at least for the next couple of days, is that the Sentry Boost in the DZ is an absolute monster in PVP. Even with your Link up if you have multiple players hitting you and you've been marked 3 times by the Sentry player it is game over for you due to the 45% damage boost being done to said player.

Another thing I would recommend is trying to get that DPS a bit higher with gear mods or some better gear. 80-100k health is ok with the high mitigation but again, IMO, you really want to try and get the DPS around 190-200k in order to dispatch other agents quickly or to give your self at least a fighting chance. Doing so without using the accuracy increase is key however as you can quickly inflate your DPS to numbers that are vastly inaccurate. Crit Damage/Chance, weapon damage, head shot damage, and ROF are all great ways to increase your DPS while trying to keep it fairly accurate.

In the end I wonder what the point is. I try to run solo. Be careful. Then a group of 4 take me out. A damn solo player who poses no threat. I don't always have time to find a group. Like right now I am on my lunch and I just want to have a bit of fun.

Wait till the new update drops on Tuesday, you will become a meal to agents in a squad if you run solo. Things are going to get intense in the dz for everyone with the rope cutting extraction possibility.

Yeah. Solo won't be fun. Its a shame, really. More of a bummer I guess. Its how the DZ is though and while I get frustrated its how the game is designed. My frustration usually is more focused on the mentality of a lot of the players in the DZ though and less with the game itself. Seems a lot are of the 12 year old COD variety. I don't expect people to hold my hand and shower my path with roses when I am solo but.....come on people lol.

Hi there I am in the same position as you solo no friends to call on but if you get in a group that's great on your own you don't stand a chance against the rouges But hey ho I got a partner got some good stash went to extract and he/she shot me lost the lot you are best in a group of 4 that's what I have found out any way, if they kick you their loss just buckle up and wait for the good groups I have found the best groups are American sorry folks brits have no patient's especially with females

Solo has never been fun, especially if you're like me and avoided the FL glitching.  So many people farmed that to hell and back, took a two week bancation, and have now returned.  I haven't heard anything about their gear being taken away either--I hope I'm wrong.  Alas, nobody I know personally owns The Division, and most have no plans of getting it...so it's the solo life for me.  For that reason, I suggest survivor link, overheal, and a quick shredding smg (mp-5 fan here).  Also, if you start an alt  you can stash away your stuff, have the alt take it into their inventory, and probably get yourself down into 0-160 (with a couple of great weapons).  For whatever reason most folks aren't so trigger happy down there.

That said, yes, some folks will gladly gun you down for a tiny bit of exp.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, the game is not deathmatch.  There are other strategies you can employ.  Personally I enjoy grinding away at the mobs that show up when someone else calls an extraction.  Not only do I get some exp, I also help them get some gear.  I dunno, I've tried reminding myself it's only a game, but my moral compass won't let me gun down randoms.

EDIT:

Or you could just be this guy :-D

Matchmaking in-game should be a last resort. I didn't have any friends playing the division at first either and ran solo everywhere. Got killed a lot. Then I joined a clan here, and now we're the monsters you're afraid of. If you choose to run solo, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's absolutely your CHOICE. Perhaps a different choice would improve your experience.

This is very true.  When it comes down to it.. if you're on this Forum, you do have a lot more options than Matchmaking in game (not that Matchmaking in game is difficult either).  But playing this game solo is probably never going to necessarily be as much fun as playing with a team, but that's by design I believe.  Also!  Ever since they added the whole "Share Loot" thing to the game, running in a group also means that you have an even better chance of getting good loot that you actually want!  :)
