Just for the GEAR SCORE

I have all highend gear except for the centery kneepad and mask. My DPS is 212,5k and health 86.9k but my gear score is only 187. My armor mitigates 58.6%
When I switch it all to gear with higher GS, I get to 197 Gear score. But my DPS drops to 190k and health to 60K. My armor migitates 63.9%

I tried several times to switch and see if the armor migitates better then having 86k health and 212k DPS. I guess I will keep getting kicked out of Falcon incursions for now, because I take the low GS over the 197GS any time. A higher GS then equipped should always be better.

Gear score is going to matter when the new DZ level is available. That's the only reason I have been trying to get the GS up a bit. I'd say DPS doesn't matter quite as much either. I've had DPS up to 180K but my current build at 140K does more consistent damage and just melts NPC's.

Every tier of gear can come with bad rolls, or good ones. The system is set up so the previous tier (and even the one below it) CAN out-perfom the next tier. Choose gearing based on stats, not score.

I find it odd that you would be kicked from Incursions for a 187 Gear Score.  Are you talking about Challenge mode?  187 is more than enough (typically) for Hard Mode.  But like others have said, Gear Score is only actually relevant for the requirement (which luckily will be the same on the new Incursion that comes out).  Otherwise, if you're having issues with being kicked for your Gear Score, just start the Incursion yourself so that you're the party leader.. can't get kicked that way!  :)  Darcy and I have had mostly good luck going that route as far as who we end up picking up.

Agreed, to a point.

Many players are relying on the DPS number to give them an accurate read on what their build can do. This simply isn't true. A number of factors can WILDLY swing your DPS up or down in your build, from glitches to the formula used to calculate the shown score, without raising or lowering your actual damage output as indicated. What the OP is seeing as a "better" build due to higher DPS and health may not be. He could just be making bad choices on weapon attachments and gear mods, or just not seeing what his damage really is. He could also be perfectly correct...without seeing ALL the numbers that make up his build, I couldn't say one way or the other....but two stats are not enough to judge a build by.

As I often put forth as an example, my DPS reads at 165k...but my weapons do more than that per shot, with a RoF giving much more than one shot per second as well. If we're discussing player versus player damage, the DPS numbers come out a fair bit closer (assuming you're not being inflated by accuracy stacking), but for PvE content like the incursion, it's often monstrously wrong.

What this boils down to is many players recognizing the flaws in generated statistics, and choosing to remove any players from their run that don't have a definite edge...like bonuses from 4 piece gear sets. The closer you get to attaining a 198 or above gear score (the highest attainable with 4 pieces of 191 and no other set pieces), the higher the likelihood of having such a set. While these players aren't exactly justified in their practices, most players also aren't communicating verbally to the rest of the group, leaving gear score or visual appearance as the only metrics by which to judge. When it's all you have, it's what you become accustomed to using, and many now do it as a reflex. I'm not attempting to be an apologist here, this is simply a result of ALL the player base's bad habits up until now all converging at once and creating a backlash.

The solution to the problem, as you stated, is to captain your own group. When you're not happy with the way others run things, run them yourself :10_wink: . To go even further, create a clan or add friends that are on often enough to be reliable. Just the familiarity with each other will raise your odds of a win significantly over pugging.

One more quick expansion on this, because this brought up a really good point I failed to mention.  I'm pretty sure all three times we've completed the Incursion, at least one member that had joined us to run through it asked to add us to their Friends List.  And it's not like we completed the Incursion on try #1, so they had all the reason in the world to be like, "Woo.. that run took a while."  Create your own group; you'll probably end up with friends from the runs.. and once you have enough, you may not need PUGs for anything you do in The Division because you acquired enough friends that you know are good fits for your play style!  :)

I'm having a devil of a time trying to raise my gear score.  All of the articles I read say to grind in the dark zone but I've been doing that for a while now & nothing seems to be improving.  I'm at GS 149 & God it sucks. Every time I try to play Falcon Lost I get kicked so fast before I even have a chance to start it makes my head spin.  God I hate snobs!

There was one YouTube video by this guy that says having a high scavenging stat or a item that boosts it will help tremendously in obtaining HE/HGS loot.  I finally got one & I was overjoyed but the thing is after equipping the stupid item I found that I got even less HE drops & of less quality.  The most I ever get is 182 & I'm usually always getting the 163 ones.  Phoenix Credits are a joke, you get what? 2 at a time maybe?  I've seen teams just disregard the credits & not even bother.  It'd take me weeks/months to accumulate enough to buy anything decent. My lot is not a happy one. Any advice from any out there?

Gear through challenge runs. Lexington Event Center and Lincoln Tunnel are easy and quick, and guarantee a 182 drop at least, both from the boss and the completion reward. Once you get nearer to 180 GS, try the incursion on hard for 191 drops (and a 214 on weekly completion).

Hey guys how do you get your gear score up?  I've been doing the daily's on hard and the drops 80% of the time are crap(worse gear than I already have.)

Health is around 60k and dps I'm having a hard time getting it over 60k.  I tried doing Lincoln tunnel on challenging with a group of 4  and we got clobbered.  Just seems to be having a hard time leveling up.  What's the secret?!

"Worse" is a very relative term, especially when you're only judging by two stats....and one of those (DPS) just straight lies to you. If you're looking at a piece for how it fits into your build right now, 90% or so will likely be worse. If you view them as how they could fit later with the acquisition of a few other pieces, you'll find many more useful.

If your current gear score is reading at 150-160, you should be fine to run lincoln tunnel or lexington event center. If it isn't, madison field hospital is the shortest/easiest hard run and gives a 163 piece on each completion.

Not sure if  I'm looking at this right.  My main concern I'm trying to build up my health(armor) and then I realize dps eventually will rise when I acquire better guns.  Right now my gear score is hovering around 129 which sounds like I need to run the Madison mission quite a few more times to try and get things higher?  I still feel I'm missing something on how to build my player up?

GS163 gear drops in hard mode runs (1 piece guaranteed from boss), and frequently from Dark Zone named elites (1 piece per kill). Which piece you get is a random chance...it may be a mod, a weapon attachment, a weapon, armor, etc.

How you choose to go about attaining the 163 pieces is entirely up to you. At the very worst, run the daily hard modes with random matchmaking for easy pieces. At best, find 3 others that also need teh same gear from these runs or the DZ and smash stuff for a few hours. It shouldn't take too long.

Hard mode PvE missions scale depending on the number of players.  I play them solo most of the time as it is just quicker and more satisfying and better for getting some game experience than either just walking through behind some high level players or getting overwhelmed in a low level group with a lot more enemies as there are 4 players.

It is also a good chance to test new talents / skills on the AI once it gets a little easier.

To my knowledge, the drops you get from the boss(es) on hard mode are no better because you are in a 4 person team than playing solo.   Someone please correct me if this is not right.

I guess an argument could be made for the 4 man team on the basis that more enemies = more chance for other tiem drops (blue / purple) which may also help at your level or can be used for crafting materials.

If you cannot do it alone then group up until you can, then go solo would be my suggestion.

Challenge mode does not scale, it is set for 4 players so you need to group up for that.
