Hey all

I have got to this point on my lvl 14

fairly happy with it at the moment, I can take a decent amount of damage so I'm not super easy to drop unless focus fired on.

I do however feel like I suffer in dealing damage I have a decent G36 and some decent shotguns all purple but my SMG main is a struggle it has 74 rounds which helps me out but I personally don't feel it packs a decent punch or enough of one compared to what others deal to me at times.

short of finding a decent SMG which believe me I am trying not sure what to do.

I know I'll slowly be able to build up the other stats over time while grinding levels in the DZ I have the survival link as well which really helps.

anyone got ideas or can share their lvl 14 builds

The thing with low level builds is you have basically 2 options: ignore getting your character spec'd out and just keep the highest armor rated gear you get and keep the 1 best gun of each weapon type so you can swap between them, or spec your build and keep the build relatively unchanged for 3-5 levels depending upon how well it works.

Mayen you're sub-30, almost everything you pick up helps your character in one way or another.  If you're constantly tweaking your build, you'll spend more time building than playing (which isn't necessarily bad).  That's why I suggest either the no-brain top gear and go or spec every couple levels.

On my first character, I went route 1.  I didn't really understand the mechanics of specing my character so I just took whatever gave the highest DPS and highest toughness.  This worked fine for low levels but then when I hit end game my character was a mess and took a long time to go from there to a defined, playable build.

With my second character, I used the later route.  I would sign on the game, spec my character, play and collect assorted gear and weapons, and only keep what I thought I'd use.  I would typically gain 3-5 levels in a session so by the next time I signed in I could spec my character again and try something new or different.

Helpful tip: if you use the second option, spec your build at the start of the session the first time and then again at the end of the session as well as at the end of future sessions.  Specing at the end of your session means your character is still fresh in your mind and you can make the changes you want while you're still thinking about them.

Aside from the above, here's a couple quick thoughts: either adjust your skills to activate the second talent on your G36 or recal it to a talent you can activate.  While DPS isn't as useful a number post-1.3, having both talents active should raise your DPS and make the gun better overall.  Look at numbers like your mitigation from armor and try to get that as high as possible (max is 75% but requires you to be a lot higher level) and try to increase your exotic damage resilience (EDR) which helps reduce incoming damage from everything that's not bullets (i.e. cleaner flamethrowers).  Last, you could recal your gear to give mod slots to help buff stats, swap skill buffs to ones you use or increase things like critical hit chance (CHC) or critical hit DMG (CHD).

Oh, if you want, you could probably post up here and find someone to help power level you to 30.  I wouldn't necessarily suggest it on your first character because you burn through the game and can miss out on enjoying the game.  If you go that route, pick the first option and just max everything, you really won't be doing any damage to enemies until you hit like lvl 26 or so so it really doesn't matter what gear you have.

That's a lot of info, hopefully it helps.  Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for the info

By the sounds of it I'm doing the same as you did this is my 2nd character I have a lvl 30 one which I use to fund this, I find at lvl 30 it's hard to progress in the DZ rank I tend to find a lot of rogues which individually is fine but when I have groups I tend to get wrecked.

In that scenario I just focus on the weakest rogues before I get dropped.

with my lvl 14 character I find it a lot more fun and balanced in th DZ to a degree. I still find the odd player who seems invincible but when they have a dz rank of 65+ I assume they have better gear so can accept that.

I aim to hit dz 99 before I move on from lvl 14

The search for a better SMG will continue :)

Yeah, I wanted to get my second character to 75+ in DZ but I got antsy to roll my all shotty build and ended up power leveling from 14 to 30 in an afternoon.  All of the blueprints I had wanted to buy in the last from the DZ are basically moot because I've gotten the weapons or gear I wanted and I can recal things I don't want.
