Hey there ,

i was about a week late to purchase the game due to waiting on a review to give me an idea what I was getting myself into.

Ign review was over a week late and I ended up buying the game and very much enjoying it.

I just can't agree with the review at all and seems like 20k comments support my view on the game . It's repetitive ? Racing games are repetitive and I enjoy playing them .

Anyways, what do you guys think ? Was is a bad review on a great game ?

I put about 30 hours into it to form my opinion and can see myself playing as my main game for a while

The only thing repetitive is the loot, should have had more variety in the Guns but when you mod them it's better but I have honestly never played a game as addicting as The Division. Going into the DZ is especially fun as the AI ramps up and makes it a great challenge and coming across random people and not knowing if they will kill you after a big fire fight makes it even more tense of a situation. Still have yet to come across people camping at the extraction but in my mind that's what makes the DZ so much fun, not knowing what's  to happen.

i read the IGN review, and from that it seemed he was playing the game wrong or he was playing a totally different game than we are. i couldn't disagree more with that review. and after seeing a lot of the other reviews, that IGN review was in the minority. its been averaging a solid 8 everywhere else. with that said..a review is only one persons opinion, nothing more. I never make a decision based solely on one persons opinion. i was sold after playing both beta's before launch. nothing beats hands on experience with a game. and nothing beats your own opinion :)

A 6.7? Is the game a bit repetitive right now? sure ill give him that, but we have to remember that we have 2 incursions coming up and who knows what those would be like.  I think it was clear that this simply wasn't his style of game.  I have quite a few hours into this game, around 50 I'm assuming, and I still find it a ton of fun to play with friends.  The Division has so many good things to say about it.  I still can't wrap my head around how his editor let him post such in inaccurate review of the game when we all know it deserves at least an 8.  @Zenifystone we are all right in looking at the comments and seeing how many people disagree with a 6.7 rating.

Gamespot gives the game an 8 and IGN gives the game a 6.5. It's usually the other way around but IGN all of a sudden wants to act legit/high and mighty with this review. If a game is fun/good the repetitiveness is what keeps me coming back. The Batman Arkham games combat is repetitive in nature and it's the most fun thing to do in the game and what kept me coming back for more.

I also think Vince Inginito did the review and he may be a little harsh on certain games. It's tough when you have a number tied to your company but that number is given by one person, if Destin Legarie or someone else had done the review it would probably be right up there with Gamespots review

I agree with some of his criticisms of the game. I think many were legit. That being said, a 6.7 is just silly. CoD can put out the same crap with a new coat of paint year after year and get a 9.5.

I'm guessing Bungie paid IGN a lot of money to score it low.

That's what people do when they don't research the game before buying it..the turn around and complain it wasn't what they thought. Remind you of someone blazzen?

I agree. It won't be the first time someone is paid off to give a bad review. I just wonder how much people decided against buying the game from reading that crap.

Seems a little ridiculous, I think they just let the wrong person review it(since it's one person giving 1 score for the whole company.) I'm also an IGN fanboy so maybe I'm a little biased here

That comment was mostly sarcasm... mostly.

I was actually pretty surprised with the hype train that IGN had going on for the weeks leading up to the release that they would allow a review that scored it so low. Seemed to kind of shoot themselves in the foot. Plus, just about anyone else on their staff that did a stream, news article, podcast, or whatever about the game seemed to have fairly positive things to say about it.

Part of me actually think the review score was just click bait. I will bet they got way more traffic to the site by scoring it a 6.7 than they would have if they scored it a 9.

I mean if that's what they were going for it probably worked...very tricky IGN..I see what you did there

I do online marketing for a living, and it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the review. Something controversial will usually get more traffic than something non-controversial. The 20k+ comments say a lot too...
