I've taken the time to create an excel spreadsheet that catalogues all of my weapons and gear. I'm trying to find a way to use this as a tool to identify the gear combination required to trigger the special abilities on my weapons. I've been able to get abilities on the secondary weapon to trigger, but usually by sacrificing health to a debilitating level. I'm trying to run 80k+ DPS and 70k+ Health. If any excel gurus or statisticians out there would like to lend a helping hand and reap the benefit of the template I've created, I would appreciate any assistance you may provide. For any coders, it would be cool if you someone could enter all of their gear, click a button that says "Max DPS" and it spit out the appropriate gear combination. Or, to my above request, if you could enter the weapon talent requirements and it find the gear combination needed (or tell you to keep farming, you don't have what you need). Again, any help would be huge. I've struggled to find the combination and I worry I might have had the equipment needed at one point, not knowing. This would help answer that question...

Each weapon ability requirement is listed out in the spreadsheet.

I guess I may have not been as clear in my original post. I have the Vector and SOCOM M1A now. I have a mix of HE and Superior gear (listed in the spreadsheet). I'm trying to figure out how to arrange the gear so that it triggers the weapon talents, or identify which gear needs to be replaced. I don't plan to run electronics heavy, but to trigger the talents, I have to run at least 1968.

Thoughts?

This is gonna come off sounding dickish and elitist, but please understand that I'm REALLY trying to help you;

Ok, so you're looking for either Intense, Determined, or Skilled to activate on the most over-rated gun in the game (low per shot damage, high climb rate/instability negates rapid rof, low mag size). If you REALLY intend to push out 1968 electronics (which is VERY electronics heavy for your stated build) to cover some of the most ineffective talents (Skilled is destroyed by Coolheaded and requires more dps than you're planning to have to kill quickly enough to be a benefit, Intense does next to nothing, Determined is only effective if you have the damage to kill quickly, which, again, 80k dps won't do), then I'd say find a backpack with specialized and stack up electronics gear mods. Shouldn't take many.

As an alternate route, grab an HE assault rifle. Stability is nice and tight on most, the range you intend to run it at is easily attained (no one snipes long range with the socom m1a, it's pointless with bolt actions available), and they can out damage the socom m1a easily (I do it a LOT). If you want long range damage, get a bolt action sniper. If you want mid range damage, get an assault rifle. The two should not be interchanged, as each loses to the other at their "main" range.

Bottom line: with your setup, it isn't worth changing a build for. If you had more in firearms, maybe, but even then there are far better options. If it was already putting out 200k per shot continuously (not occasionally), then sure, change up and boost it even higher, but it can't at those levels.

Bonus: The boss of Lincoln Tunnel on challenge has a chance to drop the Covert SRS. Mine's hitting for just shy of 300k on a critical headshot. Easy and short run for a sniper build.

Xero,

I appreciate the advice. It didn't come across as any of those things and helped me to better understand your earlier comments. What I think is being assumed is that my build is intentional. It's not... I'm evolving the way I think a lot of players do in that you start by figuring out that:

1. Staying alive comes by way of higher DPS and Health

2. Higher DPS and Health comes from better (HE) gear.

3. A short amount of research on the forums point you to the Vector and M1A

4. You finally craft what you think is a respectable Vector and set out to improve the rest of your gear

5. HE gear has special abilities that can be triggered to make you more badass.

6. You spend the rest of your time trying to figure out what was wrong with the above approach...

This where I'm at in the life cycle of va Division player...

I'm glad it was seen as intended. The Vector/M1A build isn't a bad setup at all, but it takes a lot of other pieces to be the build others make it look like. With the variation players can make between the three main stats, it's tough to say whats a good loadout for each player.

Sometimes, a weapon talent comes along that's worth changing your build for. Other times (most times really), it's not worth it at all. To be worth it, the talent needs to be a boost worth giving up what you're already doing that got you this far. The game basically leads you along the path thats right for each talent and playstyle...usually. Most +damage talents are firearms heavy, with a light requirement for health or electronics, if any at all...survival talents tend to be health heavy, etc. 2362 is the max number right now for any talent requirement in any stat, but most are 1889 or lower. If balance is your goal, or you wish to be able to equip any talent, those are the numbers to shoot for.

If 80k dps/70khealth got you this far, perhaps its a ratio worth sticking to as much as possible. I've seen and played with many players that make builds of that nature and far weirder work for them quite well.  But hey, tomorrow new gear drops that revamps how we think about talents anyway, or at least adds a new wrinkle to it all.....and HE pieces should be 100 times easier to acquire...
