I'm curious as to what power levelling means in this game for the 1-30 levels. You literally can't take a story mission with other players of a much higher level as the enemies you face will one-shot kill you and you can hardly damage them in return. After level 30 I can see that as higher GS/equipment players can help you get through Hard/Challenging missions and you can do at least something as you're still facing enemies of a similar level to you (30-32 etc).

But "power levelling" through the story missions doesn't compute for me??

*confused*

I've seen this done, carrying someone thru hard missions. They do trip over a lot, constantly needing reviving, however they do level fast. In missions there is no penalty for dieing like say the dz.

Through i remember grouping simply for roaming shoots thru levels too.

Edit: it was for someone's alt

Meh, just seems to me that you can hit level 30 so fast anyway on your own by simply hitting all the missions on Normal and covering the majority of encounters. Last time I hit 30 before I'd even got to the last two story missions.

but...each to their own I guess.

Power leveling for some (not necessarily the OP) means "you take the guts, I'll take the glory."  Really all someone needs to do is hang out in the lobby of the Russian Consulate and wait for a higher level player to clear the mission for them.  Hell, I inadvertently did this once...one of the rare times I teamed up in matchmaking the game also glitched out (floor disappeared).  Being unable to follow my group, I just had to stand at the start of the mission and wait for them to finish...boom, I get xp.

If you're going to go this route, though, just make sure you tell people.  I've had some party-up with me just to hang out in a DZ safe zone while I risk everything...not okay.

You don't get any drops doing that though but I'm assuming XP gain is almost the same (you don't get kill xp I guess?)?

It used to be used for people wanting a second character to enable them to double the dailies and get the pooled phoenix credits before the HVT missions dropped.  Some also used the second character as a mule to increase items saved due to limited stash size or to try and get in to a lower ranked DZ although those did not need ranking up the 2nd character.

I was playing through the missions with a second character when a couple of regulars joined me and dragged me through some hard dailies.  The end of the evening and my character had gone up around 10 levels.  IIRC you do / did get the XP from group kills.

Now, I hate leeching off others effort and so would try to join in and help (health / buffs / sniper shooting) but, as @quinch1199 said, one hit and boom - dead.

I will go back to that character at some time and finish the missions but I don't need them now for the dailies as the HVT take up my time after the mission dailies are done.

Anyway, not really anything to spend phoenix creds on these days if you have passed GS 812, especially as the BoO blueprints don't rotate.....
