Crafting...how dev could fix...

I have played from the beta and have logged more than a few hours. With the last update and the changes to the crafting and drop rates of high  end gear my enjoyment for the game has slumped. I hope that a Dev might look at my post and bring up a few thoughts.

1. The cost of crafting is insanely high. In the update they said they didn't want you to make your gear they wanted you to grind for it, so they altered the rates for crafting. This was a mistake. Grinding for the gear should be a means to get said gear however I feel that making the pieces is just as much a grind. Four different forms of grinding if you think about it. !. grind for the Blueprint 2. Grind for the Mats. 3. Make multiples, because the RNG of crafting allways bones you. 4, Grind for recalibration. Lowering the cost of mats and ADDING BLUEPRINTS makes it my choice on how I build my character and makes it less of a hamster on a tread mill.

2. Make High End gear that's better. At the rate that High End drops you would do better downgrading the gear stats across the board to make High Ends relivant again. The named gear you have in game ( Warlord, Midas, etc are TRASH) All the guns you can graft are better than the Named guns that are unique..kinda backwards don.t you think.

3. Please make a DZ zone for all the 99's out there, Currently they all just plaque everyone because they have nothing to do but be jerks. Put them in there own server and let them bother each other.

These are just my opinions, I do like the game and I hope that they tweak a few things to keep me and others playing till the DLC sometime in the future.

The way to balance it is to ensure Crafting will always come “close to” but never surpass Loot Drops in quality vs. level.

I agree mostly with what you’ve said above. However, I feel that though crafting costs should be lowered they shouldn’t be as low as previous to the patch…they needed an increase to help slow progress and encourage players into encounters more.

Drop quality and frequency has increased WAY TO MUCH … the quality should be high but the regularity of the drop should be significantly lower. Make players earn that drop! If you have to do a run 10+ times…so be it…mean time the option is that you can craft something “kinda” like it…not quite as good but you have the option of NOT doing that mission all those times JUST to get a specific drop.

Type and quality of blueprints needs to increase significantly to accommodate this of course and as I said above…crafted items should NEVER surpass dropped Loot in quality.

Anyone who’s played World of Warcraft knows the system, how it works…Massive needs to do that.

I. I hope that a Dev might look at my post and bring up a few thoughts.
very slim chance a dev from massive will see your post on this site, since this site isnt affiliated with them at all and just a fan forum. you should post this to their official forums. you have good ideas, so anything they get from the player base would be good.

The grind will stay no matter what you think of it. It's a part of the game, take it or leave it as a whole. That being said, you only need to run one grind to get EVERYTHING you need for crafting...the DZ.

High end gear is no longer endgame gear (save for 204 weapons). This won't change. Levels move forward, and the lower gear is perfectly adequate for the levels it's designed for.

DZ level is just time spent. It's not a measure of skill, it's not a measure of power. ANYONE can achieve and hold DZ99 if they so choose, but it doesn't mean they're unbeatable. Get a squad and hit the DZ, go solo at your peril, that's the gist of it. If you find the current DZ phase too hard, leave the DZ, wait a bit, then come back in to a new phase. Repeat as necessary. If you chose to ignore the DZ until just now, you're gonna take your lumps to increase there. That was your decision. A pure 99 DZ would eventually lead to better gear for them, better weapons for them, etc, lest the zone become boring and worthless. You'd still have to grind through it at some point, and you still wouldn't be ready to hit it and run easily when you did.

I'm not finding crafting off at all. It shouldn't be your main resource for gear, it should be a resource for tweaking or perfecting a build. If you use it sparingly (or better yet not at all) until you're ready to finalize a build, you'll have ample materials to crank out pieces with. The way it's built now, it requires farming higher tier materials for the highest pieces in game, and is there to tempt you on the lower tiers...sounds perfect to me.

Actually you might be surprised, we may or may not have had some communication with devs  :29_smirk:

Right now, I craft because it is one of the few ways I can get an item drop of 200+. I can't play the Incursion/DZ unless I get gear and I can't get gear unless I play the Incursion/DZ.

run lexington event center for speed multiple times with 3 others that want pxc. Get over 800 pxc, and you can buy 204 weps from the special vendor in the b.o.o. ... or, run a dark zone farming route with three others for a day or so and you'll get the same amount of pxc. It really doesn't take as much time as you think it would.

Apart from the crafting being broken (I had damage on a crafted item come out almost 1,000 less than the minimum for the blueprint used), the single weapon part returned for an item you just crafted is pretty harsh.  A 50% return would be more reasonable.  A more reasonable limit on the amount of crafting materials you can hoard would also promote a bit more crafting and searching for materials on a more regular basis.  It would also help prevent and normalise those who used the materials glitch to stack up masses of materials.

The devs seem to be releasing patches to try and control the environment and sort out those who have taken advantage of the bugs found but in doing so they are make it so much harder for the people who have not been doing so.

Personally I would like them to sort out the bugs and then have a new set of servers for people to start afresh with new characters and leave the current servers for the people who are happy with the way things are.  Will never happen though.

Well, currently my level 29 is feeling "crafting lag" as he doesn't have enough high end blueprints to craft sufficiently high quality items and isn't getting decent drops so much...JUST managed to craft a lvl 29 H&K 416 giving him just shy of 45k DPM but with a really insufficient secondary (sub-40k) which is a sub-machine gun and not my favoured LMG.

Just gonna have to grip my balls and head off into the DZ next session.
