I hate this game sometimes because its sucked me in so much that when I make a bad decision in the game, such as buying a blueprint for a gear item or weapon then realizing its really not a step up over what you already had, I feel like I have failed at life. I start getting anxious and have to walk away for a bit lol.

I bought a 182 gear item. Mostly because I was trying to get everything to at least 182 and I had a 163 in that spot. Total impulse buy. I ended up deconstructing the only one I made. So mad at myself lol

Grind to get where you want to be, craft to fine tune a build. Keep that mantra and you'll be fine.

easy gear progression:

1-30: normal story missions, no crafting/recalibration, should end up around 100-130 gear score

130-163: hard mode missions, no crafting/recalibration

163-182: challenge mode missions, no crafting/recalibration

182+: darkzone/incursions...time to start crafting/recalibrating

^that is great advice...wait till the absolute endgame before you start using your mats, as you really don't know what you need to you're in all teal gear

I bought some shit blueprints yesterday for a new Assult rifle that said it did more damage, turns out the damn thing was 3 shot burst. Also I rolled like 4 of them and got crap rolls everytime... Waste of mats and time. Bleh.

Great advice. Just like in real life I am horrible with my money lol. I struggle to save.

I do need to run the incursion. Find a good group to run it with. I've been putting that off.

Was it the SA-58?

so you honestly think after you hit 182 gs challenging modes are not as important as DZ?

Yeah. Those are the blueprints I bought. Damage looked good. I've liked the burst guns in the past. Figured it would be a more stable gun. Nope. Just didn't like the way it handled.
Black market AK still in my arsenal, that and this bitchen aug I found.

The only 3 guns I have right now are the BM AK and the level 182 M44 and Vector. Normally if I am with a group ill use the Vector as primary and AK as secondary. Solo ill run with the Ak and M44 since I try to keep a bit more range between me and the enemy. Would love to find a good AUG though. I have the blueprints for a 163 AUG but not sure if I want to spend the resources or wait for a drop.

After 182, vanilla challenge modes will drop 191 gear set gloves rarely, and have a rare chance to drop a 204 weapon or gear piece, but aside from 32 pxc per completion (30 pxc challenge mode completion award + 2-3 pxc for downing the named elite at the end of the run) and some standard currency, that's it.

Farming named elites in the DZ grants you DZ currency, DZ rank, at least an HE piece drop per kill (disassemble for HE materials, or possibility of a better piece in general), 2-5 pxc per kill, division tech, and a rare chance to drop gear set pieces or 204 weapons (same odds as boss kills in vanilla challenge modes). DZ currency and rank is required to purchase blueprints that craft at 204 using division tech (as well as upgraded versions of b.o.o. special vendor blueprints, such as improved gear mods), which in turn gives you a means to perfect your build later on.

Incursion runs on hard grant you a guaranteed gear set piece (191-214), along with pxc, standard currency, an HE drop, and the possibility of rare apparel/weapon skins. Challenge mode ups the gear score of rewards to 240, and increases currency reward as well.

You can spend 10-15 minutes farming a vanilla challenge mode quickly, only to see one drop that likely won't help you and 32 or 33 pxc, or you can spend the same 10-15 minutes downing 2-4 named elites in the DZ, giving you 2-4 times better odds to see a helpful piece, as well as building your supply of end game materials/currency.

I won't say vanilla challenge mode runs are worthless past 182, but they sure do give a lot less than you can be earning otherwise. If all you require is pxc, run em to death.

You need an LMG and a shotgun. It's like a condom...when you don't need one, it's immaterial and frivolous, but when you need one and don't have it, it's everything. At the very least, carrying one of each weapon type allows you to utilize ALL the ammo you're carrying, instead of relying on the supply of only 3 types. At best, it allows you to use weapons situationally to their greatest strengths. They don't need to be world-beaters, they just need to exist in your inventory in the best form you can manage.

***name withheld to protect innocence***, a squadmate of mine, just ran out of his (exact same as you) three types of ammo in the incursion tonight...he didn't have back-up weapon types either, and was literally down to just his pistol when we were about to clear a path to run the last bomb. It's rare, but it happens, and you look silly.

Ive got the Pahkan in my stash and I haven't found a HE shotgun. So far I have been good with the SMG, assault rifle and sniper. Haven't run out of ammo yet.

Cassidy is a good choice for an infrequently used shotgun (or a random HE drop from the dz or challenge runs), and for an infrequently used LMG, the m249 para is solid (again, also any random HE drop).

I understand where you're coming from completely though. I carry 1k+ rounds for my standard two equipped weapons, but I've been down to nothing on both before, then drained a sniper, and had to tap into the 1k+ rounds of LMG ammo I had in store. 2 more slots filled in your inventory will never hurt you, but it can ABSOLUTELY help.
