220 minimum for next incursion?

am i the only one that thinks that this is unrealistic with the current game?  there are still a lot of ppl that have never (legitimately) beat hard mode with the current incursion.  i play a lot and i have only seen 2 ppl 220+.  whether or not they legitimate 220+ or cheezers is anyone's guess.  the only way to get 220+ is to beat challenge mode.  i mostly just PUG everything, so i think i have a pretty good idea of the average player's abilities, and i honestly think that less than half of the general population will be beating challenge mode in a month.

the elitists will say something like 'get good' or some-such, but 'be real' is what my reply is.  if half the population can't even play the new content, i think many of them will just move on.  good new games get released frequently.

i understand that devs are trying to challenge the high skill/high play time ppl to keep them busy, while keeping the casuals and less capable ppl moving forward.

i am not suggesting they make the game so easy to play that thumbs are optional.

i am not suggesting they change the snow storms to 220 gear storms.

i am just pointing out that there only seems to be 1 way to get to 220 gear score, and a whole lot of ppl may never see it.

i acknowledge the fact that 'online interactions are subject to change'.

I think you might have answered your own question with your last four words of it... "with the current gear". I think it means there will have to be a bump in gear level availability, yes.

The 220 is just the "recommended" gear score for the next wave on hard mode, meaning you can certainly do it with less score. It's only the challenging modes that have a required gear score.

as michfan said...it says "recommended gear score" just like you see driving on the highway going off an exit ramp.."recommend speed limit"..do you follow that signs recommendation? lol i certainly don't...with that said, im sure you will be able to do the next incursion on hard mode with a gear score of 200..it will be harder, but thats why you go in with a team of 4 :)

Half the games population can't complete the incursion on hard because they won't mic up and communicate. Knowing the content is one thing, but having people to call out shotgunners, drones, snipers, that they're down, they need a heal, etc, the MOMENT it happens instead of having to see it later is a HUGE advantage. The more you have to watch the group box, the less you work on the run.

Well said! I was complaining about the same thing in my topic!
sorry, didn't see your post.  i suppose this is a redundant thread then.

true, but the current recommendation is 160 (i think) and if you run pugs you will see groups evaporate if a 160 shows up.  i've done it with a 150something in group, but if i don't see all 180+ i don't have much hope.

I'm almost rethinking my position on this.

Enough completions of hard mode incursion nets you a set of gear between 191 and 214, pushing your score to the high 190s.

A gun or two from the b.o.o. special vendor at 204 tacks on some more score. Now you're sitting at 200+.

You run the incursion on hard a few more times and get a full set of 214 gear to go with your 204 guns, and now you're sitting at 210.

You're absolutely ready for challenge mode at this point, and a single completion, or at worst two, nets you a piece or two of 240, bringing you up to or VERY close to 220.

your numbers are right, but how many groups walked into hard mode with the recommended gear score and beat it?  also, the 214 is time-gated, and this game is RNG soup, so one may never get a gear score of 214 by doing hard mode.  the game doesn't seem to have any sort of smart loot system, and i'm sure i'm not the only one getting mass duplicates while never getting the slot i need/want.  RNG=maybe never.

i'm also concerned that i will end up feeling like i shouldn't bother upgrading/optimizing my gear, because in 3 weeks it will be fit for smashing into materials.  maybe i'm over thinking it, but the itemization seems a bit too fast so far.

After your first hard mode completion, you'll have one piece of 214. Go back to the b.o.o. and buy the blueprints of the two pieces that match that set. Now you have a 3 piece set bonus, and the ability to run hard mode as much as you like to fill out holes with 191 until weekly resets come about (and trading gear when the run is finished makes it even easier). Phoenix credits come easier than ever now for you, and the 204 weps are simple to acquire. At worst, you'd have 3 wearables at 191, 3 at 214, two guns at 204, and a sidearm at 182 (drops or cheap blueprints), for a gear score of 201.

Would I want to pug the incursion on challenge with that setup? Hell no. Could you form a more permanent squad with 3 others and complete it? Absolutely.

Getting what you want is a lot harder than adapting to what you're given. Those at 220+ on launch day of the next update will either know that, be extremely lucky, or have glitched previous content.
