Urban MDR - application

Oh. daesu

agent provocateur
As it would happen, the patch 1.6 rng deigned me with an Urban MDR. Something that was predominantly a Survival patronage, so I held little hope.  However, in 1.6 Queens Tunnel dropped it.

Now, I find it is a high damage semi auto ar (i.e. I remained ignorant of its attributes until it was in my grubby mitts.). So, what application is it good for? Just run with it and a marksmen rifle and found two semi-autos not really a good match. I could just try different secondaries, but thought to throw out the question.

EDIT:

One of the criticism I'm reading, is why have an AR firing like an semi-auto sniper, without the head shot damage. Though the EAD is pretty good (pre 1.6 comment).

I'm not sure.  I thought at one point you could use it with DeadEYE or Hunter's Faith (since it is semi-auto), but it doesn't look like that's the case now.

Does it have good range? Personally I would rather have a semi auto AR then a burst fire...

Urban MDR has average optimal range (28m) , reload speed (2400ms) and base mag size (20), however it has the highest base damage.

The range is good for an AR. And I find the Distracted talent works well with a firecrest build (+18%dmg to targets under status effects) .  Yep better than a SA-58  :4_joy:

Med range, more controlable with armour damage as standard.

I tried it on the PTS and didn't get on with it too well.  I need some range to use a gun like that.  Same with the Scar marksman rifles.  Good at range but up close I can't hit the barn, let alone the door...

I managed to pick one up recently and tried it out. It's great if you can sit behind cover and use it similarly to a marksman rifle but if you're in the thick of the action I found it pretty useless. if you are facing oncoming rushers i found it no good. I've tried every assault rifle I think and I always end up going back to my military G36 with ferocious, brutal and focused

yeah, it's very much mid range. gets a bit tricky if you have it in your hands when things get close. though, I run it with my firecrest build, so that 4th talent works very well with that.

Couldn't you pair it with a LMG or SMG for when enemies move into CQB range?  I haven't gotten one yet, so I haven't been able to test it paired with another weapon.
