I've been through a lot of consoles over the years and I remember my first SEGA 64-bit console which I thought was amazing at the time. Okay that was the 90s and most of our members were probably not born or were babies in the 90s. The technology has changed rapidly so much over the last two decades and being that I work in IT I've seen it first hand the changes and the impact on the gaming industry. But when a new or revamped console comes on the market everybody wants one there and then regardless of the consequences. I've been 9 months with each console the XBX1 and the PS4 and as I've said time and time again. If you want a console that is a media station as well as a games console then buy an XBX1. If you are a hardcore gamer who doesn't want all the frills and thrills of a media station and game console the buy a PS4.

with the announcement and preorders of the XBX1S which I think will sell a lot more than Microsoft can produce, there is no doubt in my mind that it will sell units in the millions. But I think Sony has an ace up their sleeve that will put Sony back in the lead of the console wars. Sony are taking one of the biggest gambles in the history of the company. But we have been here before. There was a PlayStation 3.5 and that was a big gamble. But with today's technology and the demand for better graphics and 4K gaming. It will be a gamble that could either break or improve sales for Sony and put them clearly back on the podium at the Number One in the console wars. Although this could all be thrown to one side and dumped for the Nintendo NX which has been cloaked in secrecy as with Sony's Project Neo.

so the ever burning question now is. Will you buy one...? I know I will, I have a Limited Edition Batman Console which I upgraded to a 2TB HDD I still have the 500GB HDD so all I need to do is take out the upgrade put it back it reset the PS4 back to factory settings login. Part exchange this in Game and put the money towards the PS4.5 4K console. But is it all worth it? There is a video on You Tube of this guy taking apart a PS4.5 (take it from me, it's a load of BS) nobody knows what shape the PS4.5 will be, the specs haven't officially been released they are only rumours and speculative at the moment. The unveiling will be on September 7th and all those people who have preordered their XBOX ONE S will be cancelling and preordering the PlayStation 4.5.

I will be getting one because my PS4 is connected to my 4K Cueved TV...  :14_relaxed:

I'm gonna get the Sony. The gold (and black) LE ps4 I won from Taco Bell last year will get moved to the living room, and the new (4.5/neo) will replace it in my office.

...I've got a triangle, circle, x & square tattoo, so I kind of have to...

I have a PS account, so I won't buy Xbox out of the blue. But that's all, I don't care about piece of hardware coming from which company and brand.

Every build comes with a price to produce a quality to fulfill different needs. Every hardware wins.

No option for

"PC Master Race always wins"?

On a related note I have an Xbox purely as it was the cheapest platform for me to purchase for my children to use. I don't use it myself but the kids have an XBone and I have an old 360 I use purely as a media centre.

Before then I was a loyal Sony man! (PS1 & PS2)

Remember when the ps4 had good specs?!

I think nowadays they are just trying to stay out in front of the raspberry pi's.   :4_joy:

We have 4 gaming PC's in the house (4 kids).  They very in specs as stuff generally gets handed down.  Makes a good case for me to upgrade mine when my current stuff can be used for the kids machines... the wife buys that reason anyway  :10_wink: .

I also have an XBox 360 and a PS 3.  I have generally preferred the XBox (not a big fan of the PS3 controllers or a lot of the exclusive game styles).  I got the PS 3 only because of 'Last of Us' and we had some vouchers that would cover it.  One of my sons uses it a fair amount though for his Japanese style games.  The other kids use the XBox more (CoD / Borderlands / Halo).  I used to use the XBox for RockBand plus some CoD / Halo action but PC takes most of my gaming time now.

I have no plans to upgrade to the new XBox / PS until there is something I really must get (game wise) comes along.  I have not seen anything yet TBH that I cannot get on the PC cheaper.

I love the consoles for a shared 'in the same room' gaming experience with friends but it also involves fighting for the living room, in our case, which can sometimes be more hassle than it is worth.

I'm buying the Xbox One S but only because I'm a diehard Gears of War fan and I'm getting the 2TB Gears of War Collector's Edition console. I'll also get to play the original trilogy remastered with more maps and stuff from when it all began. Plus I love the Xbox controller and the fact the console is 40% smaller I figured why not. Basically this will serve as my Gears of War and Halo Wars 2 machine.

I still love my PS4 but I'm not quite sold on VR yet and I'm really not interested in strapping something to my face to play games regardless of how awesome it might be. So I will be keeping my current day one PS4 which has worked great these last 3 years. The other reason is I have a 1TB hybrid drive in my PS4 currently and I wouldn't be able to swap it into the PS4.5 because the hardware drivers are going to be different which essentially means I'd have to re-upgrade the hardrive to a 2TB most likely and redownload all my stuff and things all over again which would take a long time considering all the software I have. Neither of the new consoles are really offering true 4k gaming, hell that's something PC's still struggle with on occasion. It's just going to be semi-4k upscaling so whatevs.

So yeah that's how I'm approaching these re-upped consoles at the moment lol.

Well, kids have an Xbone and there's two 360's upstairs purely for media playing (streaming TV etc) and the Nintendo Wii of course (I'll never stop playing Animal Crossing!!!) and a 3DS XL .... and a DS... DS Lite ... Gameboy Advanced, Gameboy ... Sega Gamegear still running with Duck Tales and Sonic.. three PC's at various stages of building, two running (though one appears to be nothing more than a fancy USB charging station for the wife's smartwatch).

OH! And Smart devices.... Nexus 6P, Huawei P9, Samsung S6, Note 4, Linx 1010 (running windows 10 and game streaming linked to my Steam account).

...all helps to keep the tribe quiet...sometimes.

I have been building custom PCs for 18 years... My current built, I actually mean last years build, will out do the XBX1 and XBX1S PS4 but I sit at a PC all day and I don't want to sit at one when I get home. Which is the main reason why I moved to console. I've got a 40" 4K Curved TV. Yes I said curved... ? Sorry to rub it in. It's great for gaming. The HDMI 4K cables were £100 each and I've four of them. My PC has 16GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator Platinum i7 Core Intel Processor, ASUS (I've forgotten which one) it over £200 the sound card is Creative Labs SBL ZxR Corsair Liquid cold CPU and GFX Card. The GFX Cards are EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti SC GAMING ACX 2.0+ 12GB in SLI with Corsair PSU 1200W with braided cables it all looks awesome with neon lighting.

But I'd play on a console any day of the week without disturbing anybody with HP Fans which are bl***y Loud. ?

Actually if there was an award for the sexiest console. This would deserve 1st place on the podium. I never thought that I would actually say that but I actually mean it.

All kidding aside I've got a very similar setup. i7, 16gb, gtx 970 (I want my 30 bucks, Nvidia!!!), etc, etc, but no curve in my TV :-) I too have been building PCs for quite a while and even work a job as a network tech...and honestly, I don't mind sitting in front of a computer when I get home either.  I play Diablo 3 all the time, write code for fun, and have basically always been a computer geek.

I dunno, for me, I got sick of crappy PC ports and staring at a 23 inch monitor--gorgeous as those 60fps+ might be.  Bottom line, I just can't stand the elitism some people (not anyone here!) think they're entitled to because they stuck a bunch of computer parts into the right slots on a mobo.

To get back on topic, my answer is: I'll get a 4K console when I have a 4K television.
