Should I buy this game?

I need a breather from the division, looking for honest reviews... is it a bit repetitive? I'm a big shooter fan and I like the idea of open world missions but like depth and a good story mode.

I don't know how you or any Division player would call this game 'repetitive' when all you do in Division is repeating the same missions with exact same spawning pattern for snowflake items and going into Psycho Zone planting bullets at those very same enemies in the same spots behind the same cover for 5-20 minutes straight and take part in masochism brawl with other players for hours.

Either way, assure yourself. Decide the things you wanna buy on your own, please...

- If you like a game that is fairly punishing that gives you satisfaction upon succession. With this I also mean both you and your enemies are quick to die. Then yes, you'll like this game.

- If you like a game where guns DO NOT drop like candy, filled with foam ammo which you can tack on laser pointer to give extra headshot damage, then yes, this game is for you.

- If you like a breathing and beautiful open world, then yes, you'll like this game. You can appreciate the surroundings and take screenshots in between.

- If you like freedom of approach, flexibility, trying out your own methods, not being tied to what, where, how the game wants you to do the task, then yes, you'll like this game.

- If you like single player, but still have tactical feel and being in control of your team, then yes, you'll like this game. AI teammates can be clunky, but once you know how to utilize the feature, it's a cool breeze - and I don't mean that they will be your 'press-a-button-to-kill-everyone', but more like great in tactical moves such as ambushing. trapping, pinching, etc. Sadly many people still yet to learn the cool side of it and mistaken the AI for being dumb.

- If you like co-op with friends (public co-op is not working in this game; too many dicks and dumbs around), going tactical, straying away in the world instead of just shooting leads, then yes, you'll like this game.

- If you like a stronger story and seeing your character more involved in it, then yes, you'll like this game. Just don't expect Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino level of story.

Just to add, the Division is more repetitive in a structured , grinding for gear progression kind-a-way.

Wildlands is more unstructured, open world. Which means how you get your fun is up to you more. For some people, this can make it more repetitive. Esp if you like the addictive gear progression grind.

From my view, having started playing recently, I would say;

If you like FarCry (3 / 4) then this is likely to appeal.  No radio towers but lots of missions found with intel and although they are repetitive in structure, the way they play out is not locked in like in The Division (to a large extent).  The map is fully explorable from the start so no 'leveling to get to harder areas' if you can stand the walk / drive / fly time to get there and open the safe houses.

The guns are ok but not as unique as I would have liked.

Driving is as you would expect in FarCry rather than ARMA which is probably one of the weakest points in my view.  Trying to get helicopters to go forwards faster is a major irritation.

The locations are fun a lot of the time and the landscape / world is very well done.

It does suffer from sniper-itus (snipe the guards from range, sneek in and mop up, get the loot / objective) which can make it feel a little boring at times but you can also ramp up the difficulty if you want more of a challenge.

Multiplayer can be great but you will also have times where no-one is working together at all.  There is a vote to kick ability though.

I like it but it is very different to The Division.  More Arcade than tactical.

.. I did not say that the division wasn't repetitive, hence why I would like a breather...I played the beta and found it slightly repetitive dude and was wondering if the full game had more to offer.

nice one, very constructive of you.

it's very much like how it was in the beta.

@Jaypeg - as with The Division this game is VASTLY better when playing with friends who can communicate with you. I'd say team size of 2-3 is ideal as I've found a full team of 4 real players difficult to control unless they're really willing to take your instructions as each player often has their own idea of what's "fun".

There are so many pure stealth missions in this game that people don't give it enough credit to be honest. I've had at least 4 main missions where if you're detected you immediately fail!

I did one mission last night where it encouraged stealth to a point and then its scripted to "kick off" and you have to defend an area once you get there by stealth. I failed it twice with a friend (1st we were spotted by UNIDAD, 2nd we didn't realise we had to defend so hadn't set up a defensible area).

Now you're saying that, I'm thinking about the Team Deathmatch PvP they're going to add. LOL. They were saying "proof your skill....blabla...tactical..blabla"

I bet majority of the players will be running around like chicken with guns, teabagging all the way with typical PvP-er insults.  :4_joy:

I have to admit I'm not convinced by the proposed mode. Seems too much like they're trying to push the game towards CS:GO E-sport territory, because, for the exact reasons you mentioned the only way you'll do any good is with a practiced, organised team, using a ridged chain of command.

I must admit that I've beeen in a gaming clan where we tended to wipe the floor in such events because we were set up on strict military structure and chain of command.

At least its free DLC but the lack of any real mission expansion in the forthcoming DLC's has meant I haven't bothered with a  season pass.

I'm putting a hold on Season Pass as well. Narco Road sounds like a whack, breaking out from all the serious part of the game. Fallen Ghosts sounds like yet another classic Survival. I hope they can do much with the Survival. After all the price is quite steep for two packs and 3 clothes and a van...

At the end of the day, I hope, I really do hope, we the so-called PvE community can keep supporting the game. This game is made to be a tactical single/multiplayer co-op, not Call of Duty Wildlands nor Dark Zone Wildlands with their pinky guns and funky dresses.

Just like Gearbox towards Borderlands, I hope the developer have a backbone of where they're going and what they're doing. Gearbox pulls up middle finger to PvP community for 3 Borderlands games and the series succeeded as a fantasy shooter, shoot-n-loot multiplayer co-op; have a strong support by the community. I hope we can do the same towards Ghost Recon Wildlands as a more-serious-shooter tactical co-op game.

The last Ghost Recon game had it. I forget what they called though. It's been awhile, but I think you had to try to survive through 10 waves of enemies.
YES!  That was tons of fun to play, especially being on the top of that building where you had some inside work cubicles and some outside on the rooftop.

I actually prefer an adventurous survival like how Massive did it with Survival DLC, perhaps with better feature such as hunting animals for food or stealing consumables from houses, than a camping horde mode like Incursion.

The last Ghost Recon game would be Future Soldier btw.
