They are different guns with different stats.  That is probably the only saving grace.  I suspect the MK17 was a very good 182 roll with the talents and stats and the M1A was very poor but it had better damage per hit (around same rate of fire but half the mag size).  Overall, that 229 M1A was not an upgrade on my 182 MK17, all things considered IMO.
Doesn't matter, the tiers shouldn't have overlap.  If a 163 is 9-10k DMG, then 182 would be 10.1-11k, 204 11.1-12k, & 229 12.1-13k, or something like that.  And this shouldn't be just for DMG, it should be for the weapon bonus too (stagger, DMG out of cover, headshot DMG, etc.).

impressions from maybe 1 -2 hours.

Love the little things, like the ammo refilling the mag (hopefully that also means empty mags in your inventory. i.e when you are running out of ammo in ug and switching weapons. Such as pain to have to go back to your inventory to re slot weapons to fill the mag and then refill at the ammo box again)

After hearing about being able to run in the boo, found that was only with the passage to the UG and not the boo entrance. No biggy, just the feeling of getting caught on a hidden disclaimer, lol.

Extra gear slots. Some slots for stat mods some for perf mods. And yet visually, I can't tell the difference. I assumed it was a glitch until someone told me.

Weapon handling. It's nice to have to aim better again.

Weapon Nerfs and buffs. Staring off at gs#131 and only a short play, so not really in a position to tell.

Roaming. My first gs#163 came when I went a couple of blocks from the boo for quick mats.

Loot. I seriously hope the speed for getting loot is because it is pts and they wish to help lab rats gear up quick. otherwise, way, way too easy and quick.  From one extreme to the other

Agreed but talents can also go to making one weapon better than another.

From what I see, damage is affected by weapon GS but not special damage for that weapon type (ie. Headshot damage on snipers) or anything else.  I would also have liked to see talents scaling up with GS so the Accuracy talent could give +15% @ 163, +20% @ 182 etc.  Would make it difficult to manage as people jumped up and down the world tiers though.

Because vital aspects of the game are calculated on Gear Score this must NOT be the case with gear or weapons! What is the point of having a Match Maker that uses gear score if I can load up loads of low Gear Score items that are MORE POWERFUL than higher level Gear Score items, join a lower level tier via match maker in the DZ and melt everyone??!!

Oh...hold on...THAT'S EXACTLY HOW IT IS NOW.

Fix this one issue and you end up fixing LOADS of serious gameplay problems.

This is so infuriatingly easy to see yet Massive seem unable to spot it!! *grrr!!*

As large as this patch is, and as broad as the changes are, the dark zone has remained fairly sheltered from all this. So, either Massive is sentimental about the notion of the dark zone, or any changes to the dark zone will be the focus of a following patch. There certainly has been talk about the dark zone. Though, this patch's approach seems to alleviate the complaints of the dz by not coercing people to go in for gear and dailies (think about that or a moment).

I was using the DZ as an example but the issue is in PvE as well. The enemy weighting in Incursions & Missions on higher difficulties are all "match maker" based and hence effected by the natural imbalance with power levels vs. Gear Score.

Each time you go through a mission / incursion / HVT etc the game looks at your Gear Score and buffs/nerf's enemies accordingly (as I understand it)

So our live agents have now been copied to the PTS.

The gear is not fully converted as it retains its skill bonuses rather than getting performance mod slots but the rest seems reasonable.

WT 4 challenging Lincoln Tunnel bugged out with the locked door at the end of the tunnel not opening.  We killed ourselves, respawned and it then was fine.

Underground challenging we did with 3 people.  Not so difficult but no walkover either.  We got wiped the first time in the tunnel where you get two waves coming from one end and the the boss wave from the other end.  Second time we completed.  The 'kill the bad guy' timer has been reduced it seems.  Took us around 10 minutes to get to the boss and had only 5 minutes left.  The tome seemed to get more easily earen away with battles to get to the boss.

Lots of loot drops and i am now running out of storage quite quickly.

For weapons, my AK74M got an extended mag giving 93 rounds and seems pretty good.  LMGs are much better now.  I had to check and shuffle.my weapon mods after the 1.4 conversion changed them all.  My M1A is significantly less effective. I ran with my LMG out most of last night.

I am still running Sentry as the items are pretty highly spec'd.  I have not found better yet to justify moving away but probably will after a while.  Now max stats for GS 229 are just over 1000  :1_grinning: .

Update: Just seen State of the Game...

Seems the revive on death for the med sig skill is being removed (update: it is the defib skill not the sig skill) as being overpowered and so are the Underground respawn points.  That is going to make the Underground less fun again but at least they mentioned they will be trying to get the respawn back in but in a different way (rather than in the middle of a running battle you just all died in).

Blind, it seems, has also gone and Banshee has taken its place focused on PvP DZ.  Sounds interesting if you like DZ PvP.  Has 4 piece bonuses that differ as to whether you are Rouge or not.

There were also a series of nerfs and 'fine tunings' applied to guns and talents etc yesterday in the PTS. Down a bit for LMG and up a bit for SMG etc.  AI Shotgunners were also nerfed (fall-off and accuracy IIRC).

The PTS is a sandbox for new ideas so to be expected and the game there is still miles better than the live servers IMO.  I do feel overpowered with my character brought over and TBH wouldn't mind a wipe and starting from scratch as the progression is good and the loot supports it fairly well.  They just have to moderate what can be bought in the vendors to stop you jumping GS levels too fast (maybe only this and next GS level items for that WT).

@quinch1199: My understanding is that the modes are now weighted depending on the number of players so should be doable solo but I have to test.  I believe the incursions are excluded from this though.
