Protection vs Elites: Mitigation Math

I hit up folks in the #theorycrafting channel of The Division and got mixed results. I then read a couple previous threads and got mixed results. Does anyone definitively know how Prot vs. Elites actually works in conjunction with the 75% AR cap?

It sounds like 100 %- 75% AR = 25% remaining. So 100K dmg becomes 25K dmg. 20% Prot vs. Elites adds to the remaining 25K.

So.. 20% (Prot vs E) of 25K dmg = 20K dmg = 80% resistance.

Correct? This also adds on top of smart cover? Meaning 80% SC + 20% PVElites = 100% remaining additive to that 25k dmg = 100% damage mitigation? That' doesn't make sense or everyone would run max smart cover and 20% prot elites to be invincible. I'm unaware of a total weapon damage mitigation cap somewhere?

Please fix my broken math. I'm no good with it.

I believe its broken out in your character tab as different stats with smart cover giving you ADR(all dmg resist), EDR(exotic dmg resist), PFE(protection from elites), and armor that from the initial dmg. So lets say that a sniper elite does 1 million dmg per shot with his sniper. Also lets assume you have the following stats

Armor - 75%

EDR - 50%

ADR - 50%

PFE - 20%

Lets start with armor:

1 000 000 (1.00 - 0.75) = 250 000

Then since this is a bullet and therefore not exotic dmg, this multiplier has no effect and we move onto ADR

250 000 (1.00 - 0.50) = 125 000

After ADR we can apply your PFE

125 000 (1.00 - 0.20) = 100 000

So after all your armor and dmg mitigation a 1 million dmg shot from an elite sniper would remove 100 000 health from you.

TLDR

Unless you get any one of these stats to 100%, you will always take SOME dmg.

This is why they capped EDR at 90%.

I believe booster shot also counts as ADR along with smart cover (correct me if im wrong).

It doesnt matter what order you apply these in because its multiplicative.

1 000 000 (0.25)(0.50)(0.80) = 100 000.
