Ubisoft is at it again. Slicing worthy parts and lock them up under specific requirements.

"If you participate in the beta and play Wildlands before March 31 (on the same Ubisoft account), you’ll receive access to the Unidad Conspiracy reward, which includes three exclusive missions."

WOW!! Ok, I will find the money! Beans on Toast for me...lol!

Pre-ordered the Delux edition...done and done...Damn you Ubisoft! (had birthday money for me available so don't worry I'll be able to eat)

Ah, damn "outdated version" error. So far, I've only really approach ed the location of the first mission.

On a PC keyboard the vehicle controls are a bit silly. Missed most of the customisation. Grrr.. hopefully the error is resolved.

So, anyone? What do you think?

Those who've played Closed Beta, what do you think of Montuyoc, the new region?

I think the striking difference between Itacua and Montuyoc is great. It has the feel like accessing new stage/place in video games back in the day:

"WOOOOOOOWWW, soooo different!!!"

...which is not many video games nowadays give this kind of impression; now commonly every places tend to have the same feel and atmosphere to the last one you were at.

I was excited to come back to this game. BUT, I was/am not looking forward to play it for some reason. The BETA started in the early evening in my timezone and I didn't start right away despite of my excitement for it. I ended up playing GRW later at night, then I stopped early, and browsed Sharon Stone's Instagram instead.

I'm currently still investigating why I felt 'lazy' playing GRW. One of them I'm sure about is because I feel the game is too quiet (perhaps because I don't use sound system or because I don't turn up the volume loudly). Even during the gunfight, the mix of sound effects still sound oddly unsatisfying. Or maybe because playing solo gives no feel whatsoever, the story is not intriguing, and I literally have to rely to meet other players to get the fun. However, I'm fully aware that this game was promoted as multiplayer co-op shooter, so I wouldn't call the game suck for not giving me a proper fun accordingly to my taste.

So far my feelings are overwhelmingly positive.

Firstly you're grabbed by the eye wateringly good visuals, the vistas and scenery is just stunning (discounting a couple of annoying graphical bugs).

Gameplay wise, 2nd time around I know the keyboard layouts so I'm functioning far better in single player and co-operative and taking each scenario in a realistic way with stealth, deep planning and making use of the tools in the game means I'm having an absolute ball! Last night I took out 15 out of 17 enemies in a base without being seen or them knowing there was an attack!

Downside - I have ALREADY seen negative comments online... each mission, this whole game, can be completed on Normal if "Run-n-Gun" and people are complaining already because they can complete it, that there's no challenge etc etc.. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU'RE MEANT TO PLAY THE GAME!!

Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean, for your enjoyment, that you SHOULD! ( @supercat - I know this isn't you by the way so not a dig at all)

Multiplayer adds so much as adding even one player means you lose all the Ai ... making things harder by default. I love that!

@supercat - Audios. As someone who's served I can tell you most of the audio is spot on. Gun sounds (for modern weapons) aren't actually the meaty and rich audio experience we're used to from films, the bullets hitting enemies is scarily accurate, unfortunately most gun retorts are through suppressors but without it the 5.56 rounds from the H&K416 give off the realistic "crack" they should do and the heavier calibre of the LMG sounds spot on also. I can't comment on things like mini-guns as I never heard one close and in real life.

I also suspect the external audio is deliberately subdued because of the environment...this is of course a rural community... so its rare to get the sort of constant background clamour we're used to as predominately city dwellers.

I still say there are far too many vehicles though and damage models are far too weak!! IF I have a bump in my car at 10mph...even my modern plastic covered car wouldn't disintegrate like these do. I'd like them to half the number of vehicles, increase damage resistance to them.

I have also made the realisation of how the story is 100% ORGANIC ... each mission is NOT fed to you, if you fail to gather the intel you don't get the mission yet. This is going to be a shock to people, in the group I had last night we let an interrogation target escape (I did my best! I disabled each car but he managed to escape in A FRIGGING JCB EXCAVATOR!!) ...but this set back our intel gathering hugely and I'm not yet able to progress the story until I've captured another target or two. No, I can't repeat that mission....that guy is GONE!

OMG I LOVE THAT!!

I have come to the conclusion after The Division and playing Wildlands that Ubisoft are aiming to make games where the players gaming enjoyment is DIRECTLY linked to how they decide to play the game. Like Division, Wildlands can be completed loud, run and gunning and you could, if you wish just bully yourself through the game in short time.

However, if you take your time....absorb the environment, roleplay the story and immerse yourself into the characters they are both extraordinary games. The trouble is that the majority of gamers now are frankly lazy and will take the shortest route to satisfaction.

So I tried the game again for around an hour, joining someone else's games and let then join mine. People really often just barge in. Lol.
I've even had to actually kick players for this already...frankly they're ruining my gameplay. Missions I start are now invite only unfortunately ... at least in The Division you can still have fun even with complete idiots on the team. For a game that its most enjoyment comes from STEALTH though...it really kills it.

Yeah, I find solo I use the drone and handgun a lot. Which is more an issue with me lol. I think I need to master the direction of my ai squad to have a more aggressive play style.

And co-oping, I have experienced the team-mate who runs to the copper and flies away before others board. Even when they are running across the field and you have a vehicle they wont get in lol.

And I have had the team-mate who waits for you. Even revived him after my harsh copper landing. Communication in my timezone does make it hard. But it is beta, so a bit helta-scelta.

in the release, maybe the culture will be different. Approaches become common even when peeps speak different languages. Otherwise problematic. It can drive away the good players making it worse. If it is not tactical, I can feel it will become pointless running/driving/flying around.

Gameplay is certainly different from the division. No tanky play or bullet sponges. No complaints, adjust to the tactical approach, can certain;y be fun.

Been playing for around 3 hours right now with a friend and two other randoms. Color me frustrated because of these rambos. I tried to lead the team using the command shortcuts but just no use.

These Rambos I met had good intention though. But they always busted the crap out and then die or fail the mission..

Ghost Reckless Wildlands for sure.

@Voyager42 and I got to meet the myth, the man, the legend... @g1nt3r!  We rolled the beta for probably 2ish hours and had a great time just collecting skill points, weapon crates and cleaning up whatever we happened to come across.  Had a great time and we were really working well together with @g1nt3r running the chopper and @Voyager42 dropping enemies with the sniper.

I don't think this game will take over all my time and replace Division like Division did with Destiny, rather I see them as two different games and I'll be jumping back and forth between the two.  The OBT seems to be playing a little smoother than the CBT and I'm stil glad I've got a preorder.  Hopefully @g1nt3r goes with the PS4 purchase so we've got another ride or die homie, but I'll understand if he goes PC ?

Just ran across real deal team members. Sure sometimes we made mistake, but it's so great to see other players tactically approach hostile area from every corners to recon and snipe.
Best option. Edit group permissions to INVITE ONLY ... then get on Discord or TeamSpeak or in your clan and get real players you know. Sorted... last night... OMG I HAD THE BEST TIME EVER!! One guy is pretty new and hardly has any skills but we still hit the 2nd region, we had such a laugh!!! Such funny moments, some great team play, this game is simply fantastic if you play it as intended.

Now the proud owner of a .50 sniper rifle and a TAR-21 and my friend...unlocked the most OP skill ever... Drone controlled mortar strikes!

...though we pissed those "UNICEF" troops off something cronic! They literally chased us from their base deep in the 2nd zone right to the safe area where you start from fresh!! We think they glitched as each mission we took on the way through they turned up moments later!! In the end we had to mortar strike them all and log out .. lol!

Oh so that's drone mortar? I think I ran across some dumbasses purposely killing me and teammates with it. I was confused wth was going on because there's no mortar launchers around.

This game is not even released yet, but I've blocked several people so far.

I'm surprised other members haven't uploaded videos yet... I have one on the way, about four I need to do post-commentary on and upload at a later date.

I'm going to be so sad when the beta ends BUT I don't have to wait long until full release AND The Division patch 1.6 is in TWO DAYS!!!

I've streamed all of my sessions on my Twitch channel (CBT & OBT).  I don't have time to make YouTube videos and edit them, so I don't post vids because they only stay on my Twitch feed for about 1-2 weeks.

Alright, here's my thought. Please take this only as an opinion in case the content sounds a bit bashy. I'll try to make it as short as possible.

GRW has four remarkable points in my mind so far, namely Customisation, Environment, Balance, and Offline/Single Player. As a gamer, Customisation holds a huge value to me. It first came shallow with the preset faces and short number of hairdos. But it ended quite well when I found I could choose clothing patterns, finding out that there are variation in size, and even the ability to repaint guns - even the parts. I'm aware nobody give a poo about this when I visit other forums, but I give a lot of credits for it.

Environment in this game looks beautiful and supportive towards our tactical approaches. I like open-world games and typically not many games nowadays can give a striking difference in each area of the map. The impression I had when I first visited Montuyoc from Itacua while riding a bike was the same kind of 'WOW' when I first visited Staunton Island from Portland in GTA3 back in the day. However, I can't talk much about this yet since I still don't know the full map. But I can see I'll be snapping pics of the environments just like what I did during the Betas. The interactivity with objects in enemy bases such as SAM missiles, power generator, spotlights and such are also great additions to the environment in regards of tactical approach.

The game balance, so far, attracted me so well. I like RPG, but the absence of typical RPG balance from a shooter game turns out to be a welcome change. No more guns dropping like candy. No more laser pointer that gives extra headshot damage. No more enemies that can absorb 250 rounds of AR bullets x 4 in their faces. Although sometimes I must admit that it's a bit nonsense that an enemy can find my sniping spot in the middle of darkness under a heavy rain. But so far, so good and I'm enjoying the challenge of 'don't miss or you'll F us up'.

The ability of Offline/Single Player is the last positive point I have and yet at the same time also the beginning of my negative point. In short, I'm someone who hate dependency. So it's completely appreciated when I can use my 60-bucks product whenever the internet is unstable or even out of service. But unlike Borderlands which have interesting voice overs, story, and BGM to hold myself in solo mode, this game just failed to do so. However, I won't complain since it was advertised as multiplayer co-op. Unfortunately, the Matchmaking feature in this game is cannibalizing the fun factor of this game (which is to meet other players who has their own 'positive' style to play), thanks to the existence of players who play like a junk (going in loud, terminating teammate, sabotaging mission, etc). And thus now I'm only limited to play with my friend to actually enjoy the game, which is, to be honest, I don't feel right, especially when there's a 'Matchmaking' button in the game.

In conclusion, the dependency of going co-op in this game and the not-working-as-intended Matchmaking feature trivialize the game's overall fun factor. I find the game was more fun in Closed Beta because I met more serious players back then, while it's the other way around during Open Beta period. I was thinking that this game could be my ultimate multiplayer co-op game, but my impression changed to "sandbox shooter game to play once in a while". Hence I'll be buying this game at later date when the price is down.

Still, cheers to Ubi for giving double demo. It was a pleasure to try, reporting bugs, and giving feedback, and most importantly, the chance to make up my mind about the game.

Dude, I had a killer time. You, me, @Voyager42, and @Blazzen67 will have to mob together. Him and I are definitely purchasing it on the PS4 so you don't have to worry about that. The game is just so fun when you're rollin with people you know. Not only was it fun but we had some really funny moments too. I expect hours and hours of good times. Let kick some ass in march!
