Im curious what is going on with the weapons and gear. I mean here i am a lvl 30 with 211 score and all my gear save for maybe one or two pieces is 204/240 and yet after dozens of missions in the underground ive only ever really acquired 180 items and guns? I can't use that. And it makes me feel like I've wasted all that time and continuing to play through it will just be wasting more. Is there some light at the end of that tunnel or are the underground missions strictly for fun and not loot scavenging? Like i get better drops doing daily HVTs and repeating the incursions. Anybody getting a lot of actually good gear?

From my understanding of Underground, in order to get the best gear, you have to use a lot of the mission modifiers (fog of war, waste not want not, etc.) or you'll get the lower level gear.

From an article on VG24/7:

"However, the quickest, easiest and more reliable way is to head down into the Underground.

This is where the player will pick up randomly generated “dungeon like” missions. Each time the player visits Operations, there will be a random layout, objective and enemy type. Upon completing the objective, the player will be handed some loot whether run on Normal, Hard, Challenging, or Heroic. Obviously, the level of the drop will scale with the challenge and rewards are also amplified when modifiers are factored in."

Heres the link in case you want to read the whole article.  It mentions the 231+ DZ, underground caches and HVTs as other ways to get top-tier gear.

And the Underground is a blast to play I think the idea is great really

So you're telling me the only way to get the 229 or whatever the new cap is, in the underground, is to play on challenging with fog of war, waste not, mad skills and the others on all at once? Id rather load my toilet paper dispenser up with 40 grit sandpaper. Guess I'm hitting up the DZ from now on...

As for getting 204s out of the underground, yes I've gotten a few. But nothing as good as the inventory of 204s I've already collected just doing missions and the occasional dz romp. But 204 is the new 180. Nobody wants that crap. It's what you settle with till you get to the good stuff.

But i do appreciate the link. Good info. Thank you!

Level up in the Underground and get the stashes.  Open those and you will get some potentially good stuff.   I have had a number of 268 set pieces and all the weapons from them have been 226's.

The items drops are comparable to the ones dropped by the HVT targets.  Normal gives 163s, Hard gives 182s, Challenging I would guess gives 204s or maybe more.  The directives (for of war etc) seem to only give more Exp in the Underground missions enabling faster levelling.  Putting the first two on (Fog of War and Mad Skillz) didn't result in any better loot for me at all.

I am working my way to level 20 so I can try the 2 phase missions and see if that makes any difference or if it is just more loot drops as more bosses.

hi,

i got yesterday a G36 GS229 with Brutal / Deadly/ something....11.6k Damage

its a Beast.

so yeah, there are potentially good weapons.

i got 2 pieces of BLIND Gear Set GS268 as well

Yep, I got a GS229 G36 Mil sepc yesterday.  108k base DPS --> 250k DPS after mods.  THe G36's will be nerfed though as they are seriously overpowered.

I really wish they would confirm the actual benefits of using the different difficulties and modifiers. So far it's basically just "the harder it is the better for you". I want stats. Like 3% increase in chance for 238 weapon for using one modifier or some similar language. Just tell people what they actually get for doing things one way vs another

Did heroic with 1 directive 2 phases and got 4 268's from chests and 1 268 mission reward also a underground cache for leveling.

Edit: however some only got 1 or 2 from chests. must have been my lucky day. :)

How much more difficult was it compared to challenge?  I did falcon's lost on heroic and it was about the same difficulty of challenge mode, until we hit wave 14. Those shotgunners are a massive pain in the ass.

You get the 229 guns and Gear Set pieces from the caches you get from leveling up.  Leveling up to level 10 goes fast. So if you have multiple characters you have 40 chances of getting gear. Plus the higher your Gear Score the higher the Gear Score drop.

Ive not heard anything about drops being gs related.  Can you point me to source please?

That video on the link posted up there said gear score affects drop quality. And it would make sense. They want people to level up slowly. Not hit lvl 30 and immediately bring themselves up to max gear score in one day of grinding. But that was probably my issue. I was like 211. As soon as i dropped my affinity for the lone star set and equipped the gold armors i had been hanging on to my score immediately went up to like 222 or something. Pretty hefty boost. Up to like 450k toughness but my dps dropped a bit for sure. So did ammo capacity and my ability to swap load all my guns. But at least now i can farm better gear. Supposedly anyways.

Arekkz does a lot of playing, makes a lot of videos, and is often referenced by podcasts and articles, so I'd consider him an expert on the game.  That being said, I'm not sure if he runs spreadsheets to track his games and then comments on those.  I've heard it more than once that GS affects drops (like light level affects engram decoding in Destiny), but I haven't seen anything concrete.  Give it a couple weeks and there will probably be posts on Reddit that have spreadsheets to determine the % influence different modifiers have on Underground missions... just in time for us PS4 players to benefit from them.

20160630_234326.jpgI got 240 double stat gloves from the dz supplydrop alpha gloves they were so they came out with ubderground dlc
