Random one,

while  in the dz I was being attacked by a few player got no problem with that I'm in the dz after all.

My grief is with NPC's they totally ignored the two shooting me and they were almost in the middle of me and the NPC's but the poxy NPC bastards all turned on me those little hit markers you get went ballistic all over.

I died and span the camera around and the two rogues just run off whilst still being ignored??

Is there some magic trick to get them to ignore you as I got dropped more by NPC's than by rogues, in the end I went rogue to regain my lost xo quickly

found it very odd, happened to anyone else or is it just one of those days kinda thing?

Well, the Rogues are shooting you and not the NPC's ... if you draw ANY aggro before getting set upon by the Rogues all you can do by being in the area is add to the calculation used to gather more aggro such as making noise, shooting your weapon (even if its not at the Rogues) etc.

Its unlikely they'd draw absolutely NO aggro but as you initiated combat with the NPC's and then proceeded to build your aggro counter up by ... doing pretty much anything the NPC's can see/hear .... and as long as the Rouges maintain a lower level of aggro status than you they won't draw the weight of fire like you will.

Remember using skills also adds to Aggro.

Either that or they put a "SHOOT ME" sticker on your back before going rogue.

thanks didn't know there was an aggro based calculation, in which case it makes sense now.

cheers
Yeah, there's mods you get for your weapons that can reduce threat (like silencers) and there's ones that increase threat (like loud muzzle brakes).  I'm not sure how the calculation works, but like @quinch1199 said, you picked the fight so you were at the top of the threat table.  Since the rogues didn't go after the NPCs, the AI looked at the rouges and was like the enemy of my enemy is my friend and proceeded to help them burn you down.

While it sucks and I feel your pain, I think it's really neat that the game was smart enough to realize that while the NPCs and rogues would probably eventually be at odds, they worked together first.  The AI correctly assessed the threat and eliminated it using any means necessary, in this case it happened to be the rogues that were attacking you.

Yeah always is...whole game combat (PvE) is based upon it and how you can sometimes run through mobs without so much of a hint of notice but other times you get them chasing you.

Aggro is also based on your level, counter intuitively the lower your level the higher the chance of drawing aggro if you enter areas above your level (or from mobs above your level). This is why the mobs have been moved to level 32-34 etc in the DZ and mobs in open world moved to level 30.

Its an old mechanic also used in World of Warcraft.

Feels like the mobs are saying, "we same level brah? alright cool."

*hi5

*walks away
Or, "woah...he's higher level than me man...we aint bothering" *keeps walking*

The further below you in level the mob is, the closer you have to be before they aggro.
