Incursions are evil and let me tell you why. An infinite number of higher level enemies with vastly superior equipment and firepower and unlimited ammunition VS only four agents with a few gadgets and limited ammo and medkits. Drones and an APC with a cannon that cannot be damaged by the players except with an explosives pack dropped by an enemy. A crashed aircraft that somehow still has an operational turret and mortars. WHO CAME UP WITH THIS CLUSTER%#&@?! How does this make sense?! The only players who have even a chance of completing these missions are the overachieving perfectionists who grind everything, everyday to become gods and are therefor the only ones even remotely prepared for FUBAR missions like these. For the rest of us, the average play-for-pleasure gamers, we have been completely left behind. I don't mind a challenge and I don't mind getting my ass kicked a few times by said challenge, but these Incursion missions are sadistic and completely unfair and I find it shameful and embarrassing that they were allowed in this form. The only way these missions make sense is if the 4-player limit is removed. Let us, the players, form up raid platoons of at least 8 just for these Incursion missions. Please, cast your vote for the 4-player limit to be removed or don't if you really believe it's fine the way it is.

Do you realize after a new Incursion was released, they would announce the world's first Incursion finishers, then add more enemies, followed by buff hotfixes?

So yeah, by doing that, they have bent the balance based on these god-knows-how-and-what top-geared people.

I'll be waiting for their new incursion called "Zeus' Rage" featuring LMB raining down missiles from army Jets with their shotgun army flying around on jetpacks.

I'm all for having 6 or 8 players for an incursion, but they would scale and become more difficult.  Also, how are you supposed to fit 8 people in the FL pit, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel for the NPCs.

LOL. I remembered last time when I played FL with tough players. We literally sit in the room below for all 15 waves.

How is that even a game?

That's like playing football, yet everyone in our team sits in front of the goal to keep the opponents away from scoring.

I've tried both FL and CS about 6 times each on normal and only beat FL once during the DZR Gear Up weekend.   The time we did it we hung out in the pit all 15 waves and everyone ran the health box with the immunity on it to avoid the shock and other status effects - so cookie cutter but really the only sane way to play it.

The Pit is not the only alternative.  I tend to use the area on the left under the sniper walkway near the brick wall and entrance some waves come through.  hiding in the brick area is a bit too restrictive but the area on the other side of the brick wall facing the APC is pretty good.

The area is covered, has two main ways in (give or take the door which 3/15 waves come through).  The metal wall can be used with smart cover and you can generally sort out anyone rushing as a 4 person squad rather than 2+2.  Smartcover, flashbang, immu & ammo stations, healing, pulse and the team should be good to go.  Watch out for flashbangs and turrets.  The three waves from the door are (sorry didn't record which waves)...

  • Single soldier (flashbang guy).
  • 2 shotgunners.
  • Soldier & 2 heavy gunners.  <-- if the gunners cannot setup they cannot fire.  Shotgun them to stagger until dead.
It is not perfect of course and some AI can sit in places that can be a bit hard for more than one player to shoot at them.  Heavy machine gun fire along with smart turrets can also shred people on the right side of that area if you don't have a strong smartcover and keep it up all the time.

With a decent team, we can run through it 9/10 times on heroic with no major issues.  With an uncoordinated / low skilled team it can still be quite a challenge.  We are around GS 230+.

My biggest beef with all the incursions is that they're easiest when you have three of your friends that you can work together with. But when you matchmake, they seem impossible because they have been designed to be completed by a group of four people that can work together. Not with a few people you just met, how many randoms have you met that want to talk shop before marching forward? These missions require coordination, good coordination, something you don't normally get in matchmaking. I seriously have a problem with this, because the reward is nowhere near good enough when you factor this in.

If you were given choice of what gear set dropped. It would be tolerable, but at its current state, I almost can't even be bothered attempting this with randoms anymore.  It's so aggravating when you finish one of these and get absolutely nothing to show for it. If I can't communicate with my teammates at all during the mission. Why would I expect them to share something they got that I need after we struggle to the end?

The difficulty of these mission needs adjusting IMO. Either that or you need to adjust the loot sharing system. Allow me to share items with people on my friends list because I don't care about some random jerk who won't help me.

Matchmaking is the devil unless you're leveling up a toon from 1-30 or doing standard CM daily missions. The Division Discord is your spot for making groups of solid players who know what they're doing. 9 times out of 10 I can find a Discord PUG and we can wreck through all heroic content without many issues.

Though opening up eventual 'raid' like incursions to 8-16 people would be epic.. the current incursions would break horribly if they added more people.

Any advice on matchmaking?  I sometimes have a group but a lot of the time I need a group.  What is the best way to matchmake?  Go to said incursion and matchmake there?

The couple times I've matchmade for incursions haven't gone well.  You can do most activities without communication, but incursions are the exception, IMO.  I'd suggest using the Discord or the Division LFG site.  I can't guarantee that you'll fare better, but I think you're more likely to get people with mics that are talking.

+1.

@Voyager42 and I hit up the DZR Discord for the Gear Up weekend and were helped through CS on hard.  Took like 7 min to knock out.  Swapped up some players and we got halfway through it on challenge mode before we stopped for the night.
