Gear score doesn't mean everything

I did a random matchmaking on Lincoln Tunnel last night.  I got matched with a group of three obvious friends by the discussions on the mic.  When I spawned in I immediately noticed their scores of 204, 208, and 200.  (I'm at 199)  I think to myself, this is going to be a cake walk, we should cruise right through this thing.  After we hit the first mob I quickly realized these guys were terrible at the game and had obviously farmed the incursion via the glitch to get all their gear.  The mission took twice as long as normal and I felt like all I did was revive these asshats throughout the entire mission.

Bottom line is this....just because you see a high gear score don't immediately assume you are outgunned and/or outmatched.  That incursion glitch has obviously inflated a lot of gear scores on subpar players.

True... true. And the funny thing is those are probably the types that are less forgiving of someone who is a lesser rank. Played with a guy the other day, random, and he was higher level but admitted that it was from farming the Incursion glitch over and over. Every time he died, it was something that we did or weren't doing.

Completely true. The only reason in the game to push your gear score higher is if you're trying to do the Challenging mode in Incursions. Otherwise stick with a build that works for you. I still run with a Gear Score 163 Classic M1A and a Tactical 1911 163 as well but they both have great talents and honestly do just as much damage for me as 182/191/204 scores would.

I'm around 193-195 depending on equipment and feel like I am better equipped then many of my friends who have higher gear scores for things like Incursion and DZ Rogue hunting.

Same... but since all my friends playing are XB1 guys instead, I was forced to go XB1. But hey, at least I get my drops a month early :/

This is also true in the reversal. There are some 160+ gear scored people who absolutely tear it up. Adding gear score by itself wasn't all that good of an idea. It discriminates at an extreme measure. People with low scores can get auto kicked, high scores are 'assumed' to be ready to rock-n-roll, ultra high scores are insta flagged as cheaters / hackers.

When I crafted my green knee pads and mask for the first time, the very first thing I noticed was that the gear didn't come with any talents and it dropped all of my stats.  With a full 4 piece set, my dps dropped 30k, health 45k (mad) but my electronics went up 3k.

Soooo...basically, it's slightly easier for me to kill targets in the incursion, but the risk is that I go down extremely fast...and often.

I see zero benefit in the dz, but then again, I don't go rogue purposely. To me, gear score is just a number that allows you to play the end game content maybe. There is no baseline Stat benefit at all.

At least they didn't quit half way through !! I have probably attempted falcon lost about 20 times so far and about 17 of them have failed because people just give up and leave half way through for no reason. I really wish they would give people a reputation rating and then when people do that and ruin the mission for everyone (because most people know you cant bring people in mid mission) it would give you the chance to kick them when they appear at the start of another mission.

Honestly I hate missing out on all my HE item talents... just to have a high gear score. It's like a noticeable difference in game play for me.

Yeah you really need to play it with comrades or people you've played with before. It take's dedicating 30-45 minutes and constant moving around.

Yeah, which is why I run the 4 pieces of green gear in spots where my HE gear was weakest and run my 2 strongest HE pieces with it, even though I could technically wear another set. As much as I hate the wreckless talent, I can't give up the 13% damage increase, and my HE gloves have both increased SMG damage and AR damage. Combined with the Sentry's call, it's pretty stout. I just have to watch incoming damage because I'm no longer running with 115k staminia.
