Dark Zone Stories

You're not alone bud. Things aren't always fair in the Dark Zone.
This is true. Started with one guy who shot me and went rogue. Killed him. Then I notice his friends way down the street. Wait for them to shoot before I start shooting. They hit me multiple times even before my barrage of shots. Yet I go rogue. Oh I was so mad. They didn't even take my loot!

Yeah, they baited you. They have to do a certain amount of damage I think.

Bummer. Odd thing happened last night. There was a rogue down the road and I took a shot with my rogue. I know he had the rogue flag. I was flagged rogue. Wonder if there there was somebody behind them farther down the road.

So the guy I usually go tot he DZ with was busy and I went in solo.  I found some low grade items and a gold and just went to extract with a 'if I loose them then no issues'.  Climbing on top of the parking lot I fire the flare and hide.  Shortly afterwards, two other players come up and stand next to the wall I am crouched behind.  One gives me a friend invite and I join their team.

After the extraction we farmed and it was clear that they had a route.  Best gold night so far.

Was a pretty smart move on their part for the team invite as I could not then shoot them.....

They also extracted in the DZ03 large open space and a group of very high level rogues killed us and then just camped out items so we could not come back and get them.

Win some, lose some :-).

One of the team is 'friended' and sometimes just invites when I am playing.

Nice, always fun to find some friendly agents in the DZ

Sure is.  Even if whilst running up to a corner they disappeared around I suddenly noticed a 'Rogue agent' marker on me...... turned the corner to see a dead agent getting kicked by one of them.  No idea what happened and the timer ran out without incident.  Was a bit of a surprise though.

Need to get coms sorted really.  i have a Blue Snowball but I also have 4 noisy kids in the background  :1_grinning: .

My Karma with  the DZ is a rather bad one. I seem to attract trouble. I go mostly with a buddy into the DZ so we are often not at full group strength to beginn with. Twice I got killed through walls from cheaters and more often then not I am just not able to compete with the gear the rogues nowadays seem to have. But still I will go into the DZ from time to time to slowly raise my DZ level and earn some DZ creds.

Once just last weekend my buddy and I went into the DZ. We happily kill NPC's and follow a more spontaneous then planned route through the higher DZ's avoiding rogue symbols on the map...as we stumble upon another agent. As things happen he crosses the line of fire from my buddy and we went rogue. I shout out a "Sorry it was by accident, don't shoot!". You could see on the movements of the player that he was thinking what to do as he aimed at me but did not open fire. I aimed down sights too and told him "If you open fire I will defend myself!". That gives him more to think of as we still slowly move sideways looking at each other through the sights of our weapons. Each one waiting for the others next action. I again warned him, that "I will shoot you if you attack me, it was an accident, let the timer run out and we are on our way." The funny part here was that my mate just went into cover to watch the whole scene. He did not say a word.

Then the other agent decided that he would give it a shot and try to take me down to see what I may have in my bags for him. I did what I annouced to him and opend fire too. Lucky me this time the agent didn't have better gear and my trusty AUG took him down in no time (it almost felt like less then a second but that may have just been longer cause the moment felt very intense). That was my first rogue kill in the DZ and that almost more out of self defense then anything else...the DZ makes me do evil things.

Another time my buddy and I started to engage a supply drop NPC group and where in the middle of the action as a single agent comes along and runs straight through our lines of fire (oh how I hate that when they do this). He immediatly threatend us asking things like "Do you wanna die!" and stuff. I told him that we would not shoot him and that he got shot by accident. And what does he do next? Instead of helping us to kill the NPC's he just walks right up to the drop and claims it. My buddy and I both must have thought WTF? He is alone and tries to steal the drop right under our noses? The little thief with the big mouth then went straight off. I asked him to at least tell us what he got out of the drop. No reply...

Only a few meters from the drop he had to stop and take cover, because a cleaner boss spawned there and took him literally under fire. My buddy and I took cover a few meters behind him. I asked my buddy "Do you think the same thing I do?" and without even waiting for an answer we both opend fire upon the thief. We took him down fast and he was complaining why we shot him. I told him that he could at least have asked if he could open the drop instead  of just stealing it. He did of course not drop the supply drop loot but 3 high-ends. Then the boss and his minions must have thought "Hey we are still here do NOT ignore us!" and managed to kill my buddy. Then another agent showed up attracted by the drop and by our rogue status. I thought that it was a good idea to just retreat a bit back into the dead end where the drop was.

Lucky me the cleaner bosses are very slow. As the other agent came around the corner to look for me the boss had found his next victim. As I was in cover the agent could not see me at first. Then the boss shifted aggro over to him and they killed him fast dropping 3 high-end loot pieces. I was then able to finish off the boss and the remaining minions. Now I still had almost one minute left on the rogue timer and 9 pieces of HE loot in my DZ-bag. That where the longest 45 seconds of my life. :15_yum: I yelled for my buddy to come back to me to cover me and my precious loot. We extracted together and with shaky hands I sat at the extraction watching every corner for the next agent who may try to ambush us. Again as many times before on that day luck was on my side and I extracted 9 high-end loot pieces. Felt great that day.

Every night before I get off I shoot anyone that I see. Even if it's in the back. That's my story

So the two of us were running around the DZ and picked up a few bits.  None of it was particularly good but we decided to extract anyway.  We ran to the top of one of the parking garages and called in an extraction.

The along came another agent on his own...  He walked around a bit and we let him be whilst keeping an eye on him.  He climbs up to the higher structure by the heli pad and does some waving and the like.  Not having the moves mapped on my keyboard I just ignored him.  He then starts opening up from directly above me.  Luckily my health was going down pretty slowly but my old age got the better of me and in my attempt to get out of the rain of fire I didn't activate the survivor link etc and finally went down.  My son was firing back and knocked him down low before he activated his survivor link and link and started to run.  By the time I was revived, he was down the ladder and on the street off to the side and running for it with my son trying to get in to a shooting position.  I could just about see him in the distance and so put a couple of sniper shots his way with my M44, hitting but not killing him as he ran down an alley.  The extraction then timed out and we ended up going somewhere else to extract.

That was fun.  The reason it was fun for me though was that we had a reasonable change to fight back and have a bit of a gun battle rather than hearing incoming bullet and then fin yourself looking up at someone taking your loot and running off.

When i was lv15, i use to run in the direction of rogues. Though now I've become more risk adverse.

Last night i was hoping to try the incursion for the first time. But after getting kicked a couple times from forming squads , realized my gs still needs to go further north.

Was looking foward to some set gear too. Ah patience.

So grouped for some dz. Started with the usual pve action and passing other squads with caution.

Until we went through a gate and i had given a burst of fire without seeing an exiting squad. No rogue status tripped tho. However someone in the other squad expressed their indignation over proximity chat, something like "what the heck you doing" ;  or words to that affect :8_laughing:

Anyway, like a small school of fish, not sure who is following whom,  our squad changed direction. Shots were fired. And like good pug'ers we were all in, and they were all dead.

Then there were two rogues we chased. Second guy's timer finished, he thought it safe to stop. Mistake.

Or those agents who beat us to the supply drop. No matter, all dead.

After that i was in and our of rogue status so much that "the division has disavowed you" sounded more like a ringtone.

And i got me some set gear and extracted it.. :15_yum:  (kicked from the incursion lol.)

In the end, we were one shotted by some rank 99s who caught us whilst we were trying to run down some other squad. We were good pug'ers tho. Killed trying to revive before we knew it.

Still got the set gear... :8_laughing:

The frustrations of the dark zone

i have a love hate relationship with the dark zone i either have great runs or terrible ones. so last night after trying 3 or 4 times to matchmake in the dark zone i gave up and decided to try it out on my own. i was still in a group but who knows where the other guy was. So i make my way through the dark done 4 , baring in mind i have been on for the last few hours with no success due to my low health. I finally find my first HE gold gun, i pick an extraction point and start to make my way there snaking through the streets avoiding rikers when i can. I am about 200m from the extraction point when i see a rogue agent, there is at least what feels like 30 seconds where we both just stare at each other, contemplating what the other will do, i dont have my mic plugged in so i have no idea what if the agent is saying anything. needless to say he opens fire and my low health means all i can do is run and run fast. a few Rikers get involved and provide the distraction i need to get away. on my way to the extraction point i come up on 2 more HE gold items and purples, i begin to believe this is my day, extraction point round the corner 3 HE gold items i and i did it on my own.  As i approach So i rock up to the extraction point and find a lof of rikers so i survey the area and toss seeker mines like any sensible person would. i have already lost about 50% of my confidence but im here now, as im taking on the rikers i begin to notice they are dropping and not just to my gunfire. I peak out from where im hiding and see two rogue members (one of the ones i got away from before). as soon as we kill the rikers i peak out and can see the Rogue agents looking for where the extra gunfire was coming from, im convinced they will find me but somehow they dont, im safe! Now the dilemma do i wait for them to leave and call an extraction or another option? well that option presents itself as they call the extraction in. Great ill bide my time wait for the extraction rope to drop and just extract with them. So thats what i do extraction line drops in 2 seconds i get out to prepare to attach my ill gotten gains....to be absolutely ambushed by Rogues and NPC's they knew where i was and just waited for me to make my move....the devastation...!!!

I am kinda with you but...you have to be honest to yourself. Didn't one of them shoot at you before? I mean did you really think they would let you peacfully extract with them instead of just shooting you down, taking your loot & extracting it only seconds later? What happend was so obvious, that I almost can't believe you walked up to them to extract. Learn from this and try to reach another extraction point if you can. Or visit a safe house, log off and log back in. If I remember correctly that should put you into a "new" DZ phase so you at least won't likely meet the same rogues there.

in my defence i did convince myself they hadnt seen me. I think next time ill take the safe house route.

So … I roam the DZ alone with no inclination of being a rogue, I just want to loot, extract & get outta there. With this limited experience of the DZ my general consensus is that boys are just bloody mean! They follow me around to try and bait me into firing first so they can kill me as a rogue or they just mow me down and star jump over my corpse.

In one rare act of kindness (and I'm now at lv 41) so it doesn't happen often! I unexpectedly ran into a group of 3 guys and as soon as I heard the words ‘shall we kill her’ I ran like the wind! They chased me for blocks and when they finally caught me up they circled me, assured me that they weren't going to kill me and invited me to their team. I joined and realised they were all lv 80-90 players … a bit above my abilities! They then took me around the DZ, told me where to take cover and then went rogue and basically took down anyone who came near. I know this is not the most decent way to level up but I felt that I deserved it after being picked on for weeks on end!

Whinge over ... I'll learn to stick up for myself soon!!

the dark zone is a harsh place to run solo, you get punished for being a loner. As crazy as it sounds I feel safer in dz 05/06 because agents up there mostly just want to pick up loot and extract and fight the NPC's. I find that if you are solo in the lower zones there are always a group of 200+ gear score agents just running around terrorising the less geared players. I don't like putting faith in PUGs as they could just send you rogue when you don't want to be and then you have to deal with that sh*t
