Phenyx
Community Agent
Being that this is an RPG is anyone planning to create a backstory for their character?
I'm no creative writer but here is wat I have for my Agent. (some adult language, nothing too harsh).
War is hell, but it's nothing compared to the fall of humanity.
I used to believe that society, as a whole, was good. That in a city of over 8 million people the good outweighed the bad. My naive perceptions of good and bad went down the drain when the Dark Winter hit on the day after Thanksgiving. Man, never as “Black Friday” been more appropriate. One day you have neighbors, the next day they are trying to kill you for the clothes on your back and the food in your refrigerator. Civility only goes so far in the aftermath of a disaster.
My name is Evan Archer, but I usually go the nickname, Phenyx. I’m going to be honest, I hate that name. It was given to me for all the wrong reasons. I lost my closest brothers the day I was given that name. Lone survivor, rising from the ashes, wounded but not dead. Yeah, its cliché as fuck I know, but it’s stuck for almost 7 years. My scar covered body is all the reminder I need of that day in the hot sand.
My home is, well was, Brooklyn, NY. It’ the city I was born in, raised in and returned to after my 3 tours I the desert. I lived alone in a one-bedroom hole above a Chinese food restaurant. There isn’t enough Tide on the planet to remove the smell of egg rolls and fried rice from your clothes. My buddies at the fire department would give me shit and joke they were going to hose me down in the street. Yeah, after being a soldier and before being activated by The Division I was a firefighter. I guess I have a death wish that fate is yet to collect on.
The Strategic Homeland Division, we’re essentially a group of operatives who are the last hope for society when shit goes so bad there’s no one else to turn to. I never thought the day would come where we’d be activated but I wasn’t going to scoff at the extra cash in my pocket. We’re tasked with the impossible; keep society from devouring itself long enough for the government to get its act together and resolve this nightmare. Good luck. Maybe this is Gods way of starting over, a modern day flood to cleanse all sins. If that’s the truth, well, to be honest, God is an asshole.
I’ll do my part. I signed on the dotted like to do as much. I’ve spent my Div money on pizza, beer and the occasional adult companion. Besides, I don’t have anything better to do. I either fight, or die. I’m not ready to die.
