I'm gear score 191 but keep being put into darkzone bracket 201+ anyone know why?

Because it is based on all of your gear. Everything in your stash, your inventory. They don't go by what you have equipped. They go by what your best possible gear score could be.

That way people cannot sneak into a lower bracket that shouldn't be there.

I thought that was the case so since I've checked to see what my best possible gear score is still only 198

Either way, the good news is that 201+ Dark Zone bracket drops LOTS of high end stuff at a very high rate.  You should have the gear you're wanting very quickly.  If you don't want it from the Dark Zone; hit the High Value Target missions on the PVE side a few times and you should have high enough gear that you'll feel more comfortable in the Dark Zone.

Yeah,having the same problem here .my best possible gear score is 195  and they have done the same to me.obviously some kind of bug ,shock horror.they seem to be fobbing you off with the good news about being screwed,no surprise there either eh.

Also; something I thought of in the meantime.. You have to remember, too; that the new Gear Score bracket isn't really geared toward separating those people that are close to 200 out from the 201+ people.. It's meant to safeguard the people that are closer to that 161 Gear Score from the 201+ ones.. If you're in the 190's, you're at least going to be somewhat compatible with the next bracket the same as if you're level 12 playing a level 14 mission in PVE.

its not the rouges I am worried about anymore its the NPC's that can 1-3 shot KO you or burn you to death in seconds.

We found that their attempt at changing how gear score is calculated is broken. They attempted to make it so that only your highest weapon counted for your gear score and the other two were discounted, but according to testing we did, a player using a 204 weapon is automatically in the 201 bracket, and all weapons count twords your gear score still.

I was 193, so we're pretty close. Dz had me in the 201+, and my all weapons are below.

However i just teamed up with four agents (one also in the 190s) and at the end of an hour i had gear that took me to 203.

That is true. If I run my 182 vector, 182 lightweight m4 and a green pistol. I can gear with 214 gear and still get into the under 200 bracket. Now if I equip one 240 gear piece or a 204 gun then it bumps me up.

On another note, a friend I run with was able to use his 204 aug in the 161-200 bracket. He equipped two green guns and a green pair of gloves to do it.

if you are in the 201+ bracket, soloing is no longer an option. Ive ran into a lot more rogues and npc's are obviously a lot stronger. Technically you could still solo, but that would require a lot of patience and trips to the safe house/checkpoints to restock.
