Why would someone play Darkzone Solo?

You can always run into safe houses and start talking to some people there to form a group for the DZ. Or start making groups in here :-)

I know this might not be a popular opinion but why does a new video game always have to cater to everyone? If you couldn't find a group to do dungeons with back in the early World of Warcraft days you wouldn't be able to get any good loot either. They implemented 'dungeon finder', maybe the same could be done for the DZ. A 'DZ group finder' or something similar.
That's true. However, I think they are hamstringing themselves by not making solo an option. Think about Destiny. There are so many people on there that have never joined a raid or a group. Solo players are a huge population. I do like the proximity chat as a way to form groups.

This is also beta. There may be more in store, or they may be waiting for a reaction from the community about this. I'm hoping solo play is considered, or group play is more accessible in game.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Finally got a squad of four in the DZ, just went around rekting people haha, Wild Wild West
Lol it's a lot of fun when you're in a group. not so much solo. However, I have been able to solo a bit more than I used to with some new weapons.

I should have recorded my one experience with DZ..I managed to get something from an AI and extracted it.  Got the timer down to around 10 seconds and got ganged up..3 on 1.  The extraction zone's by their nature (helicopter landing) can't exactly provide any cover.

It also didn't exactly explain how close you have to stay to the extraction zone in order to keep the timer going.  It's pretty much the big H circle.  Any further and the timer resets.

They're a good spot fo agents to go rogue and come up

the DZ is an interesting game concept and it will neat to see how Massive/Ubisoft tweak the risk/rewards to reduce/increase the number of rogue agents.  I can't help but think that they have a target % of rogue agents in the DZ to keep the area exciting.  Too few and it's just a sparsely populated PvE area.  Too many and it's COD style trolling.

There should be an option were other players can't attack you like GTA Online's Passive mode because I'm pretty sure people in the beta are having problems getting DZ Funds. I remember when I had 3113 DZ Fund and once I entered the Dark Zone I immediately get gun down and spawn killed by rouge agents and lost 2512 DZ Funds less than 5 min and all the hard work it takes for wait the A.I.s to spawn and have a chance to drop DZ Funds and they only drop what like 35-57 DZ Funds. Maybe add a better way to get DZ Funds please?

How about Friendly NPC's at the DZ entrance? That would resolve the door camping.

This is an option

I would also like the option to switch between different DZ instances. If you have a situation like mentioned above, a simple instance switch would get rid of that

Ya solo DZ is really just going to be for the hard core agents that want to test there mettle. We are already seeing it were groups of rogue agents are farming gear and bounties on thier heads. Due the the 24 agent limit on each DZ server and no way to determine if you will end up on a farm in server with 20 other rogue agents means this will be extreme hard mode for the hard core players. That is until they have everything and the final expansion is released.

for the lulz!!! and its more nerve racking if you see a group who are about to jump you for your new shizznit , and just say feck it!!!! extraction!!!!!

I just went out to go get food and the whole time I'm watching my back... Feel like someone's gonna go rogue on me and steal my pho...

Although I generally disagree with going in lone wolf, just to play devils advocate: If you are skilled and know how to pick your engagements and are smart about going rouge, you can be very successful. I have tried it, and it can be a challenge, which is why I enjoyed it. I wouldn't make it a regular thing though lol. Joining up with other single players int he DZ actually can build a good support network of friends so you always have people to play with any time of day.

I know I met some pretty cool people in the dark zone.

The proximity chat was certainly a great addition for this. A lot of great people are willing to come around with you and help out. I wish the volume wouldn't drop out based on range though. I'd like to be ten feet from someone and still be able to hear them clearly... (unless I'm completely off base and the people I heard just had terrible mics...)

Now the beta is over I can form a good opinion about this matter. I've spent the majority of my time solo in the DZ and have had a blast in there. My general opinion of the people was quite good, I've got betrayed only a couple of times but the majority of the people I encountered were very friendly.

I found the first day of beta so much fun. These first extractions were nerve wrecking. 'Am I going to be betrayed?', *does a pulse scan* 'hmm that guy over there behind cover is waiting for something'...

Overal, I've had a very good time in there. Hunting rogues solo or in group. I did manage to get my hands on a DZ chest as well. 1K DZ credits + 4 items of loot

Keep in mind that this post was created only a couple of hours into the beta, and I had very little experience with the game. mostly frustration. I can agree that Solo can be fun if you are skilled enough at combat or stealth. Group play is much more advantageous at this point though.

I had a blast in there solo, you just have to play completely differently. Sprint is your friend as no one is faster then you. Also using chaos as your friend around the extraction point. I loved watching 7 or 8 around the extraction zone, no one knew who was with who and then one or two would start something, everyone would chase them and I would lay a bullet or two into them and sprint through the extraction point sending my loot to safety while the chaos is going on.

Instead of going into engagements you need to just stay on the outside of them and try not to be noticed that your there on your own.

Saying that, I will only be going in solo if no one in my unit is around because it is 10x a better game in even a group of 2, just so much fun with friends!
