On SotG it was announced that PC PTS will begin at 10a CEST/4a EST on Friday June 30th.  While there is still going to be a console PTS, as promised, the exact release date hasn't been provided (should be sometime next week).

For those on a console looking to get to play the PTS, there will be a limit of 10k players for each console.  Players will be chosen based on whether or not they're playing end game content (lvl 30 stuff) and how much play time they have logged in the last month.  Those that are chosen will receive an email at the email account they have associated with their Uplay account and will then have few steps to follow to redeem their PTS code.

For someone that has been looking for a console PTS since the first PC PTS, I'm rather unimpressed that they're limiting access so much.  I've been playing the game since the closed beta (no alpha cuz I'm on PS4) and will most likely not get a code since I can only play about 8-10 hrs a week because of adulting.

I know there's mostly PC players left on here, but I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on gating access behind play time?

Haven't heard the sotg when i say this...

Hopefully the limitation is purely just because it is a first time and if things go pear shape then it only effects a limited number. So next time around, 1.8,  things might be more accessible.

I don't actually think game time is a great sample. That just encourages hard core feedback. It is good to have more diverse feedback, especially from the fithly casuals.

This was my concern.  If everything is geared towards hardcore players, the rest of us get left out.  That being said, I'm thinking they're still using PC as the main driver of feedback and changes, console is just for QA.  If that's the case then people that play a ton will be a better choice as they'll play more and Massive will get more game time on the consoles than if they allow casuals.

Interesting limit - 10K players would mean either limited technical resources (lack of PTS servers for consoles) or limited people.  My guess is people.

And I wonder what the split is?  As I will attest in another post  - the release notes indicate a HUGE amount on money is still going into this game.  The only reason for that in year 2 is its still selling and selling well.

The 10K limit also indicates DSP should buy a PC  :4_joy:

(could not resist)

And OH - what is "Adulting"  sounds kinky.....

I don't think it's players.  Someone was checking the XB1 DZ leaderboard and there were over 130k people on the board for the current month (I'd guess the same for PS4), so I'd assume there's well over 10k on each platform.

As for a computer, if I can ever get Affiliate with Twitch & start getting donations and/or subs, I'll possibly purchase a computer.  If I do, it will probably be designed for streaming so I can run OBS & get an overlay to "pretty up" my channel.  @NG12 upgraded his setup and gave me his old PS cam a couple months ago, so I have a cam, but I'd like to have an overlay and more professional looking setup.

If I get to that point & can get a rig that can game too, then maybe I'll play some PC.

OK, played 1.7 for 12 hours or so. Done and happy so far.

  • 6 piece gearsets - I tired the 6 free (humm - anyone get a classified drop?) ones a little and all of them outclass the old...  BUT with that said, adjusting the build seems to take alot longer.  SO much in fact I decided not to waste anymore time on it until it goes live.  For me very small changes had dramatic results (mostly negative LOL).
  • Seeker Nerf - the damage reduction is very very very very ........ zillion .....very noticeable.  And I hate that.  But as I really use this for crowd control the fire aspect still causes NPCs to stop and wave there arms about (did not their parents/school talk about stop-drop-and-roll?).  But for me - take all damage away leave the fire and bring back stagger.
  • Global Events - I want a opt-out.  Other than that - way cool.  My issue is, if you don't like a particular Global Event you loose a week playing or reduce your playing.
  • General - NPCs with no way to know about a battle still argo and stay argo'd - this still need alot of attention. Lexington is the worst...
  • Farming - I hit Lexington 15 times on challenging - no drop - but hella fun.  I will never get that damn vest.
Overall - Nothing specific to complain about for 1.7 - just the same grips that have with anything to do requiring a DZ visit.

SOOO - when is it live?!?!?

They still haven't started the console PTS yet (haven't even sent invites yet or an official date) and I would assume that there will be at least 1-2 more weeks of PC (3-4 total) and 1-2 weeks on console.  Until they get there, don't expect a release date.  Figure maybe 1-3 weeks after PTS closes for it to be live (a week or so to finalize update & a week or so to get it thru Sony & MS).

sounds like the Americas invite are still progressing. so keep checking your  mail.. and spam folder.

also..

@TheDivisionGame: Agents, there is no maintenance incoming tomorrow. Servers will remain up during our usual maintenance window.

Presumably this means the PTS as well

@TheDivisionGame: PTS is now open to all console players who redeemed their invite. Invites for American players have not yet been sent. Stay tuned!

all very clear... not
OK, I am bewildered - is there a bigger console audience than America? (not snide - just curious)

Pc just has some lower numbers than ps4, not huge, but consoles combined are double. So, on average  adding the two other platforms adds more players as expected. Just as expected (1 + 2), nothing  disportionate.

Basically, they have conceded that "unforeseen  issues" arose with the Americas invites.. What issues  Americas has that European server hadn't  experienced <shrugs >

They were saying tomorrow.. tomorrow.. tomorrow  for a few days.

This pissed off a lot of people, esp when you have people feeling invites are a status  actualization (lets face it, they can be a cranky  mob). They said the invite  criteria was by game time but anecdotal evidence  suggests there was other criteria  or at least some lottery after having sufficient game time (both actually  makes sense).

Anyway, lots of angst. Bruised  egos. Disappointed players. Insufficient chill pill consumption.

The most recent guesses I've heard are that the North/South American invites went out based on play time for the two weeks around when the PTS was announced.  That being said, Yannick said on SotG that they're still investing what happened.

So, PS4ers are upset about the invites.

And, the PCers are upset because the delay of the PTS wk3 for the PS4ers indicates the likely delay of the 1.7 release.

What do they say, you can please some of the people some of the time, but you sure can piss off everybody at once.

Kind of feel sorry for devs.

Ultimately, it is about testing the patch so all platforms get a good game.

Not to mention the PTS is a completely new thing to consoles. They want it to roll out smoothly without hiccups, hence delays. I get it 100%, some people just have no chill.
