Is there anything that I need to do when I activate ECHO locations? Or is it just an EXP drop & some flashbacks of what happened during the epidemic?

Firstly make sure you "collect" the Echo (look at the Echo information pop up and hold the correct button to collect), then you need to move around and look at the echos of the people ... look at their faces and more information pop ups will appear the same, some will just give a name and info, some will say "Investigate" ... press that button and you'll collect it, there are often several pop ups to investigate and collect, sometimes they're attached to objects as well so keep looking around and moving around inside the Echo.
They play out like a story and you need to get all the parts before moving on, often they give you missions as well.

Appreciate it. I've found a few that don't have any 'Investigate' options. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

They generally have for little dots around the head of the person, could be a few, could be just one... just have to look
