With the 1.4 & 1.5 updates and Survival finally being released on the last platform (PS4) on 12/20, there's so much to do and so many of the problems that the game originally had have been addressed. Rather than make a huge post of everything here, I'd suggest you troll the Wiki and get a feel for the game and universe:

Dwarven Lord Under The Mountain
The main story has at least 40+ mini side missions, plus there are Incursions (micro story long missions) plus randomly generated "dungeon" missions in Underground plus Survival which is a game mode on its own focusing on surviving the elements without any gear to help you and includes the hardest end bosses in the game.

Oh! And there's PvP in the Dark Zone that you can enter about level 11.
