Sorry this is probably about as novice a question as you may get here.

New to PS4 and online gaming on it.

So i started playing this game and see there is an option to team up.  i have a headset plugged into the controller but in the teams no one seems to talk or hear me.  Is there a setting you need to enable for this?  One group it had a "playstation notification" pop about about being added to an audio and when i later logged out of the game i seen there was a notification about if i want to join a group there?

Is there some option to auto enable audio when joining a group in game please?  I have VOIP enabled in it

Your wording about the playstation notifcation confuses me a bit.  Added to "an audio?" You mean you received a group invite to join a party?

I'd start by going into Settings on the main menu of the PS4.  Scroll down to Devices, then choose Audio.  Make sure the PS4 recognizes your headset and that all levels are set accordingly.  Turn up the volume, and make sure the system hears your speech.

This all assumes the party you joined was using audio.  Don't be surprised if you join a group that isn't talking at all.

Either the agents you joined were not using a mix or they where in a private chat party and therefore wouldn't hear you talking through In game chat

Thanks, what do you mean by using a mix?

If you have a headphone plugged into your controller and join a group in game it should automatically work without any extra config? no parental settings or privacy settings I need to change my end?

If you plug in the mic, sure that the mic is set to on, and have the in-game VOIP also set to on, then your voice will definitely be delivered.

People may not reply in voice chat, because:

- VOIP set to off. Causing nobody to be able to chat with that particular person

- Non English speaker

- Don't like to talk while gaming, especially to strangers (like me)

- Like MurphDog said, these people were already in the PS4 Party. Being in PS4 Party will disconnect you from in-game voice chat. You still can toggle between two, however.

- NAT screwed up. Nobody hear nobody.

not sure if this helps, but when I'm struggling with my internet speed (Friday, Saturday night plus all the kids and wife on ipads, laptops etc....) I notice the first thing to drop out is my audio.

I can be in a team using chat (Xbox) but if my internet slows ( I am also using an wifi extender as I'm in a granny flat away from house) I loose audio and then will expect lag (ie seeing other players frozen or sliding around in a crouch without the graphic of running).
