You can extract in any extraction from the DZ, it probably possibly pointed you to that one based on where you got the antivirals or where you were when you crafted your flare gun if you did that after getting the antivirals.  The route I took is kind of a "cheese", as the hunter won't come to get you but they'll keep coming into the open to try and shoot you which makes them easy sniper targets.  If you're going to go toe to toe with them you'll want probably some combo of pulse, turret, support station or first aid and you'll want all 3 medkits.   You can't afford to go down when the hunter is close.  

Yeah, literally two or three shots and I was a goner. I scrambled to the nearest cover and just watched as my life was reaped. That's the gamble and risk in Survival, it's what makes the game so fun, and challenging. Even big guys in Survival are so powerful and that's just because you're used to going at them with a couple hundred thousand toughness and huge DPS lol.

Did they patch the bug / exploit where you could call the chopper at one LZ and spawn the hunter then run to another one, call the chopper but a new hunter will not spawn as the original one was at the original LZ.

I heard a few were using that way back when.  I have not run it for quite some time either.  If it dropped exotics at XXXX points then it would add another incentive but it is a fair amount of time for basic throwaway loot most of the time.

I do like it, just wish it was a bit more rewarding and I had a team to run it with as that was a bit more fun also.

Survival solo really tests what you know and I like that, especially in PvP since you have a lot more to stay focused on.

I don't know if the bug has been fixed.  I did my recent runs because I wanted the first extraction, I wasn't too concerned with the rewards.  That being said, I think 1.7 or 1.8 are supposed to revamp the Survival rewards to make the mode more rewarding and relevant.

Keep an eye on the final patch notes for  when 1.7 drops, it will say if they've changed the rewards for Survival or not.

Been going back to Survival a bit again.  Died from cold the first few times but got back in to the groove.

I stepped back in to it to get the 5 hunter kills for the mask but with few other players it is hard to team up and burning them down 1-on-1 is incredibly irritating.

IIRC they have 4 medkits and drop the health station....

The only thing I really do not like is the virus countdown.  Would prefer a countdown to get the cure and then after that you can take a bit of time.

The last 2 runs I did I died after getting the cure and flare gun to the timer and got killed by a Hunter whilst trying to extract.

Saying all of the above... I still really enjoy it though.  The rewards are pretty worthless at this stage and coming out of survival seems like quite a big letdown.

Maybe a snow storm in the regular map would be quite interesting and add a bit of interest.

Oh well.  Back in to the cold.

OK, why on earth is there a daily extract for survival?  While I have messed around a couple of times and like the challenges.  A daily extraction seems insane given how easy the other dailies are.

The time and risk involved is more like an incursion. How many DivTech is there?

By risk I mean, if you fail you get nothing. Dailies and weeklies are progressive.

The daily is 25DT for a successful extraction - not worth the time for me.

Have just done 4 rounds, froze on the first and extracted on the other 3.  Extractions are all off the back of others doing the extraction and I manage to get there in time and tag along.

I very much love playing survival but still hate the timer.  Extracted with 33 seconds remaining on the last one but at least I got the 'Nick of time' commendation.  

Seems to be teams hunting hunters as they tend to be hanging around and not extracting (or they just miss the timer) but on the second extraction (ie. when I blunder along) there are no more hunters so easy as long as there is not a team of 4 already as they will fill the chopper.

The worst part of survival though is the buzz and sense of accomplishment that turns to nothing as you realise you get nothing of value in the main game  :4_joy: .

If only they got rid of the timer or limited it to picking up the antivirus then you can gear up a bit better for the hunters, I would be in there all the time.

For farming for the main game, not worth the time as @genedjr mentions above.

So yesterday was a bad Survival day.

Failed hard so many times.

Played PvP, ran in to a player outside my safehouse who gunned me down straight away....

Froze to death

Got well equipped and fired on two grenadiers in the LZ only to find out they were gold.  Died.

Got well equipped but didn't use my mats (so no skills) and cleared one landmark.  Went to another and found 6 purple guys with the last wiping me out due to no med kits left and no support station skill because.... idiot.

Got in the DZ, got the flare gun and virus sample, ran to the extract point on top of the roof garage (where I had so far killed my only 2 hunters).  On the way up the scaffold up to the roof I met a guy coming down shouting something in Chinese.  As I have no mic in use and global chat turned off I could not reply.  Only had about 4 mins on the clock and the helo takes min 2 mins so had to extract.  Fired the flare, stood in a spot with good view on two Hunter spawn spots and when the Hunter spawned I started unloading.  I then got hit from behind and the side.  There were 3 Hunters that spawned in......  Must have been other players in range which is what the other play was trying to warn me about.  I died.... again.

Last run I managed to extract of the back of someone elses extraction.  Had all the items but they called the extraction and were right next to the safe house I just crafted the flare gun in.  Ran up to the roof passing two other players and searched for the Hunter/s then hunkered down by the heli landing zone and pulsed to fin the hunter was down on the road.  By the time I started to move they had killed him and the heli arrived so I go on.  The last of that two man team who was sniping from the next building over only just made the chopper.  I hoped they weren't a 4 man team (they weren't) but quite frankly considering the day of bad luck and stupid choices I needed an extraction  :1_grinning: .  

So it sill can all go wrong even for the experienced solo player.  I need to brush up on the Survival map, especially the DT locations in the DZ and the three I remembered had all been looted and you need DT for the flare gun and if you want to craft a gold gun.
