Ridiculous damage model of enemies

Hello,

I wonder whether anybody else experiences this and what you think about it:

I'm still early in the game, around level 8 and played some missions. Most enemies, e.g. those with the AK47 and flamethrowers, would take 40-80 hits of my guns, e.g. M4 or M249. I feel this is ridiculous. I mean, I just count hits. Even with a sniper rifle, in most cases I can give an enemy 3-4 head shots with 2400 damage each, and they are still standing.

Is this a bug or is it supposed to be that way? It really ruins the game for me.

Best,
Jan

That's kinda just how the game was made. It doesn't take THAT long to kill an enemy of equal level, but nothing is going to die in two shots. (Except you)

That's complete nonsense. Compare Battlefield (all parts) or counterstrike. 2-4 hits and you are out.
those are basically simulators, completely different types of games. cant even compare those to this game. this is an RPG first and foremost with shooter elements sprinkled in. Not a shooter alone like those games. if thats the type of game you are looking for, then this type of game isnt for you

Well, thanks for your feedback folks.

I really do appreciate the RPG character and story of the game. Maybe I started levels that my level was to low for. E.g. the level in which you kill that flamethrower guy in the end. There was a situation where 3 of us were completely overrun by the enemy. We worked good as a team, healed each other and stuff.... but no chance at all...

Example: a flamethrower guy comes around the corner, still reloading. I fire my whole 100 shot magazin of the M249 at him (close distance, at least 75% shots have hit him). And whilst I reload, he kills me with a few shots... That just feels stupid... No enemy should have survived that (except boss / final enemy for the sake of RPG).

Try to stay around your level. Enemies are much easier to kill and you will probably enjoy the game more. But now that you know what kind of game this is, the choice is ultimately yours.

this game is a gear oriented game. the better gear you have the quicker the enemy's will be put down. I went into the Dark Zone to test out my gear. i was level 12 going against lvl 12 purple NPC, didnt even scratch them. went back to PvE got better weapons and Gear, retooled my DPR, Health, and stamina to the highest possible levels i could get,  went back into the dark zone and did a much better job on taking them out. just keep your gear updated, don't try to take on NPC's too much higher than you, and it will be a much better experience.
