Patch 1.4 Survival DLC

Oh. daesu

agent provocateur
The patch 1.4 and DLCs scheduling.

This content is taken from the ubi site:

"With Update 1.4 in the works, it has become clear with your feedback and our own observations that our priority should now be on improving the core gameplay experience. For this reason, we have made several adjustments to our development schedule: Update 1.4 will be released in October independently from Survival, and will focus entirely on bug fixing, game balancing and other improvements. Survival, the second expansion that was initially planned for release with Update 1.4 is now postponed to a later date this year. The third expansion, Last Stand, will be released in early 2017. This new schedule will not only enable us to strengthen the core experience before adding new content, but also continuously improve it by allowing for more production time to ensure the quality of future updates as well.

This ongoing effort will begin with Update 1.4 where we will address some of the most pressing issues, such as bugs, loot and time to kill and set the foundations for future improvements such as PvP and Dark Zone. We will make sure to keep you informed of our progress in our weekly State of the Game, and share the complete overview of the changes to come in Update 1.4 in a Special Report livestream on September 13th."

I have mixed feeling on this.

I'm very disappointed that everything is being delayed.  If Survival is coming after 1.4 and 1.4 is coming in October, then XB1/PC will probably get Survival in November and PS4 will be lucky to get I this year.  So, 1 paid DLC in 9 months for a game, that's pretty crap.

I'm also not too keen on the fact that Massive is still trying to pound the square peg into the round hole.  1.4 is going to be created to lay the groundwork for more PvP and DZ (as well as other things).  Hopefully this doesn't cause more nerfing and destroying of PvE to "balance" both elements.  Also, seems like they haven't learned from their past mistakes, since they want to focus on PVP.

I almost wish they would have released this info before UG dropped for the PS4.  Had they done that, I might not have gotten the season pass.  But, this release was probably by design to get more people to pick up the season pass.

On a positive note, it's nice to see that they're working to try and fix some of the many, many, many problems with the game before they introduce more content that could expand upon the problems the game already has.  Hopefully the game won't experience more troubles when Survival is finally implemented.

Oh, the Xbox deal was for the first two paid dlcs. That's not good, i think pc folks loved underground , but by the time ps4 folk got it, it watered down the reaction to "meh".

They are talking about Quality Of Life changes such as weapon skins not counting as inventory items.

I think it is good that they are finally taking a step back and addressing the issues that have just compounded to make the game irritating for a lot of people.

Hopefully the bug fixes, loot and time to kill issues will be sorted out in a way that is more reasonable than just scaling everything up or they are just going to get themselves in to a bigger hole in the future).

Setting the foundation for a better DZ and PvP experience is a good start and it is nice to see they are not focusing all their efforts on just fixing that part of the game.

Ultimately I love what this game could become but I am tired of what this game continues to be.

I echo this sentiment. However, we don't know exactly what they're going to do and if its work to separate PvP/DZ gameplay from the PvE game then that's a positive thing (yeah...I know but I can wish can't I!).

Query - we've paid for an ANNUAL pass for three DLC's ... does this mean the last two will be released in a rather compressed schedule so they arrive before the year is up

They promise the three, so I imagine there'd be hell to pay should peeps lose the third dlc simply because its release was pushed back. Plus I think the pass is from the date of purchase, not to the end of the calendar year. When did this all start again?

The season pass should cover all three DLC.  And according to the the initial post by @Oh. daesu, Survival will drop in October (which should be for XB1 and PC and a month later for PS4) and Last Stand is slated for 2017 (all platforms should be same date).  I would guess that LS would be before Wildlands, which would make it within 1 yr of the release of the Division, since Wildlands is currently set to release on the anniversary date of the Division.

I agree that this would probably be a death knell for Massive and the Division if players bought a season pass for $40 and only got 2 DLC, which would be worth like $30 (they're $15 each, right?).

That's because XB1 and PC players went in at the same time 1.3 dropped, so their max GS was 228.  Since PS4 players had 5 weeks with 1.3, many players were at 255 when it came out (I'm a casual and my toons were 230's).  So, the new content didn't have the same challenge for PS4 players and the rewards more often than not didn't give players the same boost that XB1 and PC players got.

They should have held 1.3 and released it at the same time as UG for PS4 players.  Since there isn't cross-platform play we wouldn't have been at a disadvantage to XB1 and PC players.  Giving us 1.3 was a piss-poor attempt to pacify us for giving PC players UG earlier than they should have gotten it.  UG went from XB1 early exclusive to PS4 punished a month.

I echo @DeadSockPuppet's thoughts but I fear this will be too little, too late for some gamers - particularly the PS4 crowd. Whilst I, too, applaud their desire to address these issues, why is it gonna take so long and why will Survival be delayed?

Let's be honest: these issues have been known about since the game was released; certainly since 1.2 dropped in the Spring. To delay the paid DLC and make us wait till October for 1.4's 'bug fixes' begs the question as to why exactly been doing for the past few months, other than sitting around with their thumbs up their arses. ?

I've seen this elsewhere, but here's the info from Polygon.com from 3/7/16:

The first two expansions for Tom Clancy's The Division will be 30-day timed exclusives for Xbox One, publisher Ubisoft confirmed today
Here's the article link:

http://www.polygon.com/2016/3/7/11173606/the-division-dlc-xbox-one-exclusive

The addition of PC was because Massive allowed the game to get so mucked up for PC players that they wanted to try and pacify the 7-10% of the base that hadn't left the game.

Best guess is that 1.4 drops in October, Survival drops October/November for XB1/PC and then a month later (November/December) for PS4, everyone gets Last Stand probably Q1 of 2017.

Lateness is likely due to complexity. Perhaps to address issues they are actually rewriting entire mechanics...they've know about issues since before 1.2 so we can hope this is why.

Fingers crossed...

Would rather they spent 2 months and got it 80% right than 1 month and get it 30% right.

Ah, well, there you go. That's a particular shame since the PS4 was probably the happier of the three platforms.
