Map size?

As long there is much stuff to do I don't see it as a problem. I'm pretty sure other districts will be added in the form of DLC, paid or not

Yeah there will definitely be DLCs and honestly, if the game is good enough, god willing, I'll pay for em.

ALOT of people like to voice thier 0.02 cents before giving much thought.(this isnt pointed t0 anyone but the community as a WHOLE) A good amount of people havent played the alpha and noticed this was a very limited play compared to the full version. There will be alot more exploreable buildings, alley ways, street  ect ect.

and at the top/bottom of these article if you did notice......

Final Map Size
Also the more or less final map size has been revealed in one of Open World Games’ videos yesterday, which is also commented by Magnus Jansén.

Keep in mind though that the previous information can still be changed.

I did notice and I was just wondering people's opinions. I played the alpha and considering it wasn't the full map by any means it was still a massive area to play. I definitely don't think it's going to be limited at all.

Regardless of map size I believe there's still going to be more than enough for us to do and map size will never be an issue.

Its always nice to get the opinions of others.

yeah. NYC is huge and i cant ever grasp how long it will take to try and explore it all.

Midtown, manhatten is 302 square miles. im not sure if the full version will be every inch of that 302 but darn will it be great if it was

It's a lot of area to try and explore!

I think the people that are questioning the size of the map are forgetting that every inch of the map has to be explored on foot. It's not GTA or Just Cause. I can't wait to just spend days aimlessly wandering around seeing what I can find!

This isn't my information but I saw it in the comment section in the link above.

"of course all this sounds small but since it is a 1:1 adaptation you look at around 9.18km² of explorable world here.

For Comparison: Fallout 4 has 9.90km² although part of this is just water in which you wont find too much so you could say that this map is around the size of Fallout 4, which is not small at all.

This Map looks small because it also shows all the unplayable areas around it but in the end i think it is better than most here expect it to be."

I actually thought the final play area would be bigger. I was surprised that Central Park isn't included... although I'm sure that's prime material for DLC.

However, having played the Alpha which was around half the final area, it's still gonna be a huge game, and like it was stated above we don't have vehicles to quickly move around, so going from one side to the other will take time.

i think it will be big enough to start.in addition the streets you can explore, you also have the underground areas, and some buildings you can go into, which adds to the square footage

Agreed.  I spoke incorrectly the first time on the podcast regarding this, but this description is much more clear.  After researching further, it appears to be about 5-6 square miles (playable).  Probably the most dense 5 miles I will have ever played, and as Robby pointed it you'll be walking this.  No driving.  I won't judge until I play the game.  Yeah, GTA 5 was huge, but it took 5 minutes to drive from one end to the other and it was just highway.

I'm quite happy with the map size, also we can surely expect it to expand

If the game is good and successful they have tons of material they can do - bottom part of Manhattan, Central Park and above (imagine the possibilities in a quarantined / FUBAR Central Park) and all the NY boroughs (Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, etc).

And, obviously, since the devs seem to be vague if the whole situation is NY-only, USA-wide, or Worldwide, they can do fast travel and have other cities in big content / xpac updates. I'm sure they have some of this stuff outlined and planned.

After this article and things that have been said what's peoples thoughts on the map size and explorable areas?
The map size that we had access to would have been pretty ok as long as there was enough content. Looking at the map available in the beta, I think the map will likely have plenty of space for what we will have to do.

I am looking forward to the missions/task/objectives the map size as is will be good enough for release, even though I wish it was at least all of Manhattan if none of the other borrows will be included. Compared to other maps it works especially since everything is on foot to start then fast travel. I just hope that the map will extend as time passes with DLC to keep the game fresh. I got the season pass because I want to have access to all of the content that will become available. It would be cool if even after the first year the game keeps dropping DLC even if it will be at a cost. As long as the content in the DLC is worth it I will continue to participate. I am currently on PS4 but if the game last then I will consider transitioning to PC. In my opinion this game has a lot of potential and life expectancy if catered to. I will be paying attention with my fingers crossed and posting comments on forums.

Oh expect more content for sure, and you should transition to PC. PC master race!
