Lack of clan support is troubling

So it appears that there will be no clan support at launch (see source below). Is anyone else extremely troubled by this? The whole structure of the game just screams for clans. I am really disappointed.

A lot of games launch without a clan support system. They are listening to the community and they know clans are an important part of the game. I believe there will be some sort of clan support/registration but I don't think they need to do more than that. Most clans use other applications to manage clans now so adding a large clan management system isn't needed. Hopefully they add clan tags and the ability to a minimum have a roster.

I agree that we don't need a big management system but clan tags are the bare minimum IMO. I know you and I have discussed how much better some games could be with a "guild" type system of clan bounties, shared resources, and shared social spaces. All that stuff could be added later, but no ability to add tags at launch is a big letdown for me. Hopefully it will come soon.

I think in one of the E3 builds they had clan tags. So, hopefully they will have that. To mean long as they provide a place to get together as a group that's awesome. I would love to see in the future some HQ DZ clan battles though!

Is there going to be a friend system? Will we be able to play with steam friends, xbox friends, ps4 friends, wii friends, etc.?

Yes you can see friends in game and invite them to your party. There is something really cool about the friend system but I don't think we can share that yet due to NDA.

Yeah, the videos coming out showing adding friends to your team fairly easily. Like Scoop said there is some other stuff that I don't want to talk about although it might be out there in videos.

I spoke to one of The Divisions Community Managers yesterday and asked if they had any update on clan support or if any news would be forthcoming. Unfortunately at this time they don't have (I thought this might be the case) any information as of yet.

well give it time, for a game that really pushes the importance of squad based teamwork, I'm seeing it being implemented at some point or another

I just hope it doesn't take over New York. Maybe they could do a free clan map dlc???

yep can confirm. Despite lack of clan support, at least at launch, the friend support is really cool. I can't wait for you all to see what it is.

I have only played one RPG and that was Star Wars: The Old Republic.  It was really nice to have a clan chat on the game.  If you needed help or were struggling with a certain boss, you just typed in clan chat and you had help.  I think something like that would be nice in The Division but might be odd on consoles.

I joined the clan in Destiny so that I could raid.  I have made some really great friends in it.

It might also be fun the have enemy clans in the dark zone to sneak up behind and take their loot.
