Is the Gold Ed./Season Pass worth the $?

I keep going back and forth about buying the standard edition or the gold edition with the season pass.  Some information has been released about the season pass, but I'm still not sure if it's something I absolutely have to have or if the standard version of the game will be more than sufficient.  Any opinions on this?  If I preorder on Amazon, it's essentially going to cost me $32 more for the extra content.  That's not insanely expensive, but sometimes DLC isn't really anything special so I don't want to just drop $30 for nothing.

I almost guarantee you, you will buy the season pass once you start hearing about dlc releases. I bought the standard and am regerting it now. I spelled it "regerting" intentionally btw
This. I did the same thing and have to go through the Steam refund process in order to get rid of my standard and switch to gold. Thinking about just getting rid of Steam edition entirely and switching over to Uplay.

Ugh... using uPlay exclusively for any game. To each's own I suppose. Steam can be an ass hole sometimes though, I'll give ya that.

Yeah it can be. The Division is the first game I've ever played that was a Uplay game through Steam though. & Sadly the first and only time I used it in this way, Steam had issues with launching the game. Hopefully this isn't the case for tomorrow or release day.

I didn't have any issues with launching, generally though everyone had different issues. We'll see tomorrow I suppose.

I think this question can be best answered based on how much you see yourself playing and continuing to play the game long term. I haven't even played yet and I'm considering the Gold. Strange because I've never bought any expansion on any other game, lol. But going to give the open beta a try first, make my decision after...

15 hours or so dropped into the closed beta. After my first 15 minutes or so I was sold on the Gold/Season pass. Even more so after I found out what the Season pass will entail. 3 DLC packs throughout the year + special events for pass holders? Shut Up & Take My Money.

I just got back into gaming after quite awhile off and this whole season pass concept is foreign to me.  I'm struggling with the idea that I have to pay more money to get the full game when back in my day (old man speak) I paid for a game and it was mine.  I think it's great that they'll be adding new things to do, and I do see this game consuming a lot of my time.  I think as long as I know I'll definitely have people I can play the expansions with, it will probably be worth it.

I'm also going back and forth about Digital vs Disc.  I like the idea that I can trade it in an recoup some of my money after I'm done playing it, but on the other hand, I don't know when that will be.  And if I play it through the entire dlc cycle, by the time I'm done, it may not really be worth much via trade any way.

I pre-ordered the standard edition, mostly to be a prick and buy my way into the closed beta. Played it over the weekend, then cancelled my original pre-order only to place a new one for the Sleeper Agent edition. Which most likely is NOT worth the pricemark, but I gotta get that watch for my my cosplay!

The way im looking at a given price is expectation vs reality in terms of bang for buck. Like Destiny, didnt expect much and only bought the regular edition back in october. Got super sucked in, and bought their season pass. So lets say game + dlc ended up being a tad more expensive, but with ungodly amounts of hours I ended up pouring into it did give me value for my money in terms of "Dollar spent vs time played" if you catch my drift.

Compare to a movie ticket price for 1½-2 hours of entertainment. And then the game in the same scale. All of the sudden in my optic it aint really that bad in the long haul.

Yeah i gotta agree with Fox here. You'll definitely get your moneys worth

Yeah, I've been waffling on this and then I asked a buddy which version he was getting.  He's just going standard so I made up my mind I was going to do the same.  Then I started listening to more podcast episodes and reading on this forum and started waffling again.  I think I just need to take that $80 plunge!  Part of me would love to go digital, but knowing one day I could trade it in and get a little back is still in the back of my head.  Man, I'm a cheap mammer jammer, ain't I???  lol
