Firepower stat and my observations.

So I bought the game about 6 days ago. In this time I've racked up about 95 hours and figured a few things out that I thought I'd share with everyone.

Firepower itself is pretty straightforward: it increases your damage per shot by 1% per point with a gun of your level. (This part is important, as it seems that you suffer a negative modifier by using a gun of lower level.) From what I've been able to estimate using available gear swaps and running the numbers, you suffer a penalty for low level gear roughly equal to the ratio of your items level over your level, using that on a scale of 50% to 100% firepower bonus.

Example:
you're using a lvl 11 mp5 at character lvl 30:

11/30 * .5 + .5 = .683 or about 68% benefit from firepower, meaning instead of 1% bonus damage per point you'd gain .68% damage per point. Keep in mind that this is my napkin math based on my own observations, and may not be how the game actually calculates these values. Furthermore, from what I've been able to calculate, all guns have a set base damage no matter their level. Sure, you can get an mp5 at lvl 1 and an mp5 at lvl 30, but their base damage should be virtually identical (with possible variation due to random drop ranges, meaning the lvl 1 base damage could indeed be higher). But the difference in firepower benefit due to the level difference will make the lvl 30 mp5 damage much higher than the former.

If this is the case, then we can assume that high-end yellow weapons follow the same rule (excluding the possible difference in firepower bonus from an item lvl 31 weapon, as I've not yet tested that.) By using lvl 1 equipment from an alt on my lvl 30 chracter, I found out that at lvl 30 your character has base attributes of 534 firepower, 535 stamina and 535 electronics. This means that, with such stats equipped, the listed base damage of a weapon can be divided by 6.34 in order to find the true base damage of said weapon. Again, this may be off for item lvl 31 weapons since a hidden bonus may apply, which I'll try to test later.

So, using all of this information that I've described one could potentially assemble a table listing all of the base damage values of every gun in the game, and possibly their damage ranges if a large enough sample of said guns could be tested. I'm not quite up to that task just yet, but thought someone else may find the info useful.

As for bugs, some other discerning individuals like myself may have noticed that, on occasion, their firepower stat was shifting up and down between 2 different values. I've realized that there is currently a bug in the game that, at random times, your bonuses from gear mods in your armor will not apply to your currently active firepower stat (and possibly the same for electronics/stamina, but I've not tested it as I have no mods of those categories).

As an example I've included a screenshot of the bug in progress: http://i.imgur.com/rkRXMuV.png As you can see, my normal firepower of 3665 is only showing as 3189, or even lower with the firepower mod unequipped. The stat change for equipping the mod is only 127 firepower, but the game recognizes the potential change of applying all of my mods and boost the value to reflect as much. Applying the mod doesn't fix the bug, however, and the 3189 value remains.

Sometimes I've seen the mod bug fix itself upon entering or leaving an instanced mission, but typically relogging gives me the most success.

And this is just to show that a quick re-log does indeed fix the problem: http://i.imgur.com/a0jIhuP.png

I'll post more here if I find anything else worth mentioning. If anybody else has more info about the mod bug, please let me know.
