How do you get one? I have like 50 masks and none of them work. Where do you see its contamination rating?

It's not your mask, it's your filters that improve your rating.

You need to upgrade your Medical Wing in order to improve your filter rating. Go through the upgrades to see what improves it. To see your current filter level, go to the ingame menu, and on the abilities section, you'll see a filter icon with a number on it.

As @SakuyaSama7 said, they go up as you unlock wings at your base of operation. They're perks
