Stay on the sides of the street. The cars will provide good cover. Don't go into buildings unless you have a comrade covering your six. How ever many is in your squad split up. Half on one side half on the other. This tactic works well because You have good cover, you have two angles of fire, and you won't get cornered.

Walking on the main street definitely makes you an easy target. I always tend to stay on the side walk and near cover.

If chased, don't run in a straight line. Weave in and out of traffic and cut the line of sight of your attacker. Get comfortable with map locales and use cover and jump points to get away. If possible, take the high ground, you'll have the advantage then if you have to shoot it out.

Also a good tactic is to drop a turret as you are running away. It'll give you just enough cover fire and drop your attacker's HP a bit. They'll think twice about following you.

Doesn't really matter since you can just run to cover after being hit. Would be a different story if it had a hardcore mode or something but that's a whole different thing.
