The comparison: Is it fair to compare The Division to Destiny?

They're EXTREMELY solid. At least IMO. It's one of the best 3rd person shooters I've ever played.
Is it a lot like Mass Effect, because I found myself fighting the interface wayyyy too much.  The story was great, but the actual combat felt horrid.
Not to mention that there's no Free Crouch in the game.  :(

I'm kinda, sorta, not really on the fence, but I'll have to see how it plays in Beta.

No, I haven't gotten any hands on.  I'm just referencing my exp with TPS.  But the videos remind me of Mass Effect.  :|

If it ends up being more like DXHR and/or Tomb Raider, I'll be happy.

Having played both i think it is fair to compare them. They are both multiplayer "open" world shooters with rpg mechanics. From what i've played and seen the division is much more of an rpg. Your level seems to matter a lot more than indestiny, especcially comoare to destiny post 2.0. Cover appears to matter a lot more in the division than in destiny (thank you recharging shields. )

with the high number of destiny players giving the division a whirl, this comparison is bound to come up. Destiny has such a large player base it is probably the most common point of comparison for most players in the Division.

Have you played MGS V? I'm thinking those combat mechanics were pretty fluid.

I haven't played it but it does *look* smoother than other offerings.

At this point though, it's just a matter of waiting for the beta.

I hope it is much better than Destiny if they are going to compare the two. Destiny promised so much, is a fun game to play from time to time now, but they toted it as THE game that no one would have to buy any other game because this was going to be the end all expectations game...it is not. The Division looks like it could be better but I hope they are not just trying to meet and slightly surpass Destiny in features...with the system requirements needed and the potential, this could be THE game but they are playing it safe and essentially saying "This will be a great game, it will be a work in progress...but good" instead of the over the top promises to end all our needs for any other game.
