Aggro and what affects it ?.

I seem to be the focus point of a lot of the AI in team play, especially snipers and so was wondering if anyone has observed any patterns on who gets the aggro.

I am sorta suspecting it is, at least partially, based on per bullet damage inflicted (biggest threat to the AI) and this may be why the snipers and, to a lesser extent, shotgunners / troopers, make a beeline straight for my agent, at times completely ignoring other agents firing away at then.  I am not super strong or with majorly high DPS (220 on G36 and 101 on the M1A) but I use the marksman rifle alot and its damage per hit is high compared to assault rifles and SMGs.

Any other thoughts / observations from anyone ?.

I haven't been able to find how Division generates its threat tables for PCs when they engage NPCs, but it would most likely be based on damage inflicted by the PCs on the NPCs as well as how recently the damage was inflicted and combined with proximity of the PC to the NPCs and what weapon mods (like silencers and muzzle brakes) the PCs are using.

For example, if you're hammering away on then with a DMR, you're probably going to draw aggro because you're causing the most damage to them, at that moment.  If, however, your tanks start hammering away they'll pull some of that aggro from you.  As I mentioned, there's also mods you can put on your weapons to increase or decrease your threat level to NPCs.

Finally, if you're farther away from the NPCs, your group may draw more aggro depending upon the weapons the NPCs have.  Yeah they might fire some rounds at you when you're sniping, but if they have handguns, SMGs or shottys they'll probably go after your friends if they're closer because their weapons will be more effective.

I don't have any specific data to support the above, this is just based on my experience in this game, other RPGs, and the descriptions of the weapon mods.

Hmm... kinda makes sense. My teammates often use snipers and they have higher DPS stats than me.

Although I'm the attention seeker in the group, sometimes enemies might ignore until I smack them in the face.

Start equipping the muzzle mods on your weapons that increase threat, that should help.

Loud muzzles are the mod I always avoid. My teammate for some reason hates it when I attract more attention from the enemy and stir shit up.

But maybe I should stop pleasing other people and try it instead. Thanks for the tip.
