Hey
Gotta establish a little credibility real quick, so bear with me. Got all Shields and Classified Sets for D1, played both Betas for hours, almost SHD 2000 without any exploits, I have loved this game like a puppy I scooped off the street. I want it to be in a good place.
In spite of the mind-numbing grind, this game still scratches an itch that no other game can, even Diablo or Path of Exile.
Anyway
I have some opinions that won't resonate with supporters of the most recent update. I was really hoping for a win and the feeling that says the devs understand the game and what is best for its advancement.
So far, I greatly dislike Escalation and Prototype Gear as they are currently implemented. Keep your Escalation stuff, just pleeeeeeease do not make it the only way to get Prototypes.
Prototypes are a cool concept, but the execution ain't it. The current list of augments is lackluster and they barely proc. Leveling them is a cool idea, and it should stay, but the augment's ability to do anything meaningful shouldn't fully rely on being high-level. (Grenade Radius? Are we being serious right now? Wth?)
A token system for Escalation is absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, the most egregious way to compound layers of grind for new or returning players. Just make the Prototypes drop with Expertise matching the player's and make this mode cheaper to run.
People complain about dumbing down the barrier for entry to the higher Escalation levels because they're getting gear at E30. Easy fix for that.... just don't.
Maybe take your fancy prototype idea and implement it like Ancestral gear from Diablo. It's just the jacked up versions of current weapons and armors, just exceedingly rare albeit obtainable from all sources. And I mean all sources. Why limit us?
K that's it thanks
Oh wait, side note: Please make missions more replayable. Look at Mapping in Path of Exile, look at Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo, look at any action RPG with an endgame and you'll notice they all share one crucial feature: dynamicity.
Change things up. Get weird. Real weird. Find that spice and just throw it in. What could possibly go wrong. Give this dish some kick. Global Events are sriracha, we need that HABANERO.
TLDR
... I'm tired boss
